An artist who has spent his entire adult life working in the electronic music industry, Chris Zippel has been at the sharp end of the underground dance scene since the age of 15. Having worked with such illustrious stars as Robbie Williams, The Pet Shop Boys and Norah Jones, the Berlin-based artist has been a regular across some of dance music's esteemed imprints. His work for Ubersee Music, Elektrolux, Allisum and GMJ & Matter's Meanwhile Horizons, has given Chris a highly respected place at dance music's top table, as he now makes his Particles debut.

"Glossy" is an immaculately engineered offering that sparkles with progressive splendour. Full of percussive vibrancy and swung, head-shaking groove, a smooth bassline pattern adds subtle intensity to proceedings. Before long, a swathe of complementary melodic components make their play as cadenced plucks provide dancefloor character and a compelling, ceaseless energy. Through shaker pattern, well-placed clap and snare fills and a rising club-friendly pace, "Glossy" is a masterfully produced affair that is certain to find favour with DJs across the world.

Simos Tagias has played a significant part in Proton history with 30 production credits split across its labels. The "Airlock" and "Audacity" EPs in 2017 and 2018 saw the Greek artist chart a serene path through the Proton Music catalogue, as have a clutch of remixes for the likes of Dimuth K, LADS and GMJ. Similarly, the "Restricted Area" and "Drunk State" original tracks made their mark on Particles in 2014 before reworkings of Antrim and James Monro in 2017. Further remixes of Gaston Ponte and Tongue & Groove lit up the second half of 2022 and the early part of 2023 as Simos Tagias now returns to Particles for a seventh remix on the label.

Reworking "Glossy" with typically impressive flair, the core themes of the original form the basis for a new rhythmic pattern to revolve around a heavy beat and steady bassline sequence. An atmospheric vocal cut, drenched in delay adds atmosphere aplenty as trademark pads and enthralling chord progressions create multi-faceted layers of additional production. Building through a gloriously evocative breakdown, the second half blossoms into another dancefloor gem as a metrical synth pattern creates an imaginative and effortless remix.

Shining brightly with a "Glossy" and deftly produced original work, Chris Zippel is a welcome addition to the Particles roster.

An artist with a rich and varied musical portfolio to his name, MUUI makes a very welcome debut on Meanwhile Horizons for the label’s 15th release as he delivers “Mindstem / Visave Visave / Before You Were Gone”.

Responsible for more than 500 production credits stretching back over a decade, a debut on Eelke Kleijn’s Outside The Box Music in early 2013 has seen MUUI go on to release on such esteemed imprints as Sudbeat Music, microCastle and Yoshitoshi Recordings. Furthermore, MUUI has achieved considerable success with his Here Now. label which has been a long-standing vehicle for his own music, accounting for over 300 production credits since a December 2016 debut.

Now making his first appearance on Meanwhile Horizons, the EP opens with the deep, smooth tones of “Mindstem”. Dropping straight into a powerful groove of bassline, flowing percussion and hefty kick, an atmospheric chord progression revolves hypnotically in evolving patterns. Subtly effected vocal phrases add to the shifting aural landscape as a filtered arpeggio gradually increases in intensity. Pausing for breath, a gradually stripped-back breakdown creates a beatless moment before the powerful and hypnotic groove drops back into play to close out the second half.

Redolent in rich synth phrasing and lightly jostling motifs, “Visave Visave” gently develops over a near 10-minte timeframe. Full of poise, grace and gorgeous atmosphere, a sumptuous cast of characters interact with each other in easy fashion as arpeggios, pads and looped motifs create wonderful sonic picture. Dropping out rolling rhythmic elements with exquisite dancefloor knowhow, the track is a masterful composition that shines brightly with innovation and impressive production technique.

The EP ends with the equally impressive “Before You Were Gone”. Full of emotion, a spine-tingling bassline creates a head-shaking cadence that is the perfect foundation for a sustained chord progression and white-noise infused pads to combine with breathy ethereal sounds. A swathe of complementary melodies ripple and shimmer with ease as MUUI’s technique and penchant for powerful and multi-faceted productions perfectly illustrates the reasoning for the Australian born and Berlin-based artist’s longevity in the electronic music scene.

Hitting soaring heights with a sublime musical narrative, MUUI is a welcome addition to the Meanwhile Horizons roster with “Mindstem / Visave Visave / Before You Were Gone”.

First released in December 2022, Dimuth K and his "Avalanche / The Shaman" brought the year to a climax in imposing fashion. Now Proton Music revisits the award-wining Sri Lankan's EP with a pair of remixes from UK and Colombian artists.

Dan Orsen has been a figurehead in the modern progressive house movement for over a decade. First coming onto the radar with earl work for Optimized Recordings in 2014, the UK born, Austrian based artist has gone on to become a staple of Sudbeat Music, Particles and Cid Inc.'s Replug, where he also heads A&R for the Finnish label. A regular on Proton Music with a half dozen remixes since 2016, Orsen has found himself reimagining such key figures as GMJ & Matter, Roger Martinez and Hot TuneiK. Now returning for the first time since May 2021, Orsen has created a driving floor-filler that builds with immaculate craftsmanship over its 8-minute voyage. A superb bassline groove propels the new interpretation of "The Shaman" forwards while a 303-tinged lead line filters to a mesmerising climax at the breakdown before becoming a main feature in the third movement. Rising and falling in waves of sonic intensity, Orsen's skill is to take Dimuth K's work and transport it into a new vibrant direction, while retaining the key sonic characteristics of the original.

A regular contributor to Proton Music with his contributions to Kamilo Sanclemente's "Beyond the Future, Vol 1", May 2022's "Equilibrium" and his "Elevate" EP, Dabeat has found himself at the upper echelons of the progressive house scene in recent years. Contributing to that success, the Colombian's work for the likes of Plattenbank, Sprout and Anjunadeep have shone a light onto his burgeoning talent and growing portfolio. Following a remix for Rick Pier O'Neil in late 2022, Dabeat now returns to Proton with an outstanding interpretation of "Avalanche" that is propelled forward by a pounding beat and chunky offbeat percussion. Adding arpeggiated urgency with melodic poise, new production elements are seamlessly combined with core themes found in Dimuth K's original as the track is given a new edge and melodic weight. Pausing at the breakdown alongside metronomic kick and shimmering synth lines, the track blossoms in the second half to magical effect.

New interpretations from Orsen and Dabeat have created a new sonic storm for "Avalanche / The Shaman".
