Neil Beckmann is a guitarist dedicated to giving compelling performances of music both well established and ignored, expanding the guitar's repertoire in both solo and chamber settings through collaborating with composers, and has a strong interest in finding and developing repertoire for various instruments from the plucked string family, currently including various guitars, lute, theorbo, and banjo.An advocate of new music, Neil has worked with composers to create new repertoire for the classical guitar and its presentation in venues ranging from concert halls to living rooms. In addition, Neil is also an avid chamber musician and enjoys performing with instruments the guitar doesn't often collaborate with, such as the cello and percussion.

Neil has studied and taken master classes with Pepe Romero, Oscar Ghiglia, Sharon Isbin, Jason Vieaux, Judicaël Perroy, Marcin Dylla, Antigoni Goni, Gaëlle Solal, Ricardo Gallén, and Paul Galbraith, among others. 

Previous teachers include Clare Callahan, at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), and Richard Goering.
