This is my second etude for my first-semester TIMARA class at Oberlin. It is a fugue inspired by the protests that occurred on campus regarding the racial profiling practices at Gibson's Bakery, a local Oberlin business. The subject is a musical cipher of the word "Gibsons," and the countersubject's rhythm is based off of a chant that was recited at the protests ("Back up, back up, we want freedom, freedom, all these racist institutions we don't need 'em, need 'em").
