Song came to me in an apartment over the studio where I was staying at the time in Warren, Rhode Island; above Normandy Studios owned by Phil Green. The lyric was inspired by a verse out of the Bible, Proverbs Ch. 7 Verse 19. The lyric came to me one day while I was having my car worked on. I saw a Bible open so I looked on the page and there it was pushing its way off the page. Already written by King Solomon many, many years ago. The first rock star he sort of was, later to conclude it all isn’t worth the price. “With all these things bring much misery.” Solomon wrote. This was a verse I lived way too many years, lucky to be alive.

Good Man's Journey

Song written in our old house in Ashland City Tennessee, during the “Burn It Down” sessions prior to the recording date. I wrote it in the late morning after watching a movie made in Spain, giving the inspiration for the melody. The lyric is what it is and came very fast. Sometimes it would seem to be better where you came from than where you’ve arrived in life. Roy Orbison, a huge influence to me and in this tune, a vain attempt somewhat of his style.

Nothing Left To Lose

Neil Carswell is the singer well-known as the former front man of the Southern rock band “Copperhead.”  Accomplished both on stage and in the studio, Neil’s career includes national touring and the release of the 1992 Copperhead album for PolyGram/Mercury records produced by legendary producer, the late Tom Dowd. Although Copperhead had major national success, it disbanded in 1995. Fans of the hard rockin’ southern band still follow Neil’s career and will be pleasantly surprised at the metamorphosis of this artist and his two solo releases “Good Man’s Journey” and “Keep You Guessing.”
