It’s been nine years since Antoni Maiovvi released Trauma on Bordello A Parigi. Since then and before, the Bristol-born artisan has been honing and refining his audio craft with explorations into electronics, soundtracks and rock. Now, in his latest musical incarnation, Maiovvi returns with Birds of Paradise. This avian-themed four-tracker is beyond anything you’ve heard from this synthesizer wizard. Complex, deep and layered, the EP is testament to a talent rarely heard. From the sheer elation of “Flycatcher”, which pivots and weaves, the listener is taken away. Throbbing rhythms and astral melodies are unfurled, arpeggios rumble as key scale ever higher in the heady notes of “Widowbird”. A steady kick is the morning song of “Streamertail”, warm computer tones scudding next chords that trill with optimism. Birdsong, a feature of the EP, is ever present in this agile and textured close. Drawing on his predilection for movie scores, “Quetzal” completes this feathered foray. Pulsating drums offer the updraft for a spread of sounds and shapes to takes to the wing. A unique record from an artist soaring to ever greater heights.

Hailing from Guadalajara, Joseeph (FREEDL007) is another member of the boiling & sizzling Mexican underground music scene. Owner of a characteristic acid-in-space sonority, the young producer has already had his work published on some of the most respected labels amid the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene: NEIN, Freeride Millenium, Playground, Creatures Of The Night, Phisica, Innisfallen, and Discos Platino, just to name a few. While his forthcoming EP on Roam, in collaboration with Ademarr, is in the pipeline, he cooked a holy-cow theme to mark the launch of his Bandcamp adventures.

The single, “Cow Season”, transmits its message through a beautiful combination of mellow synth layers, a trippy progressive lead, cadenced percussive elements, and, of course, a cowbell line extravaganza. Guess what? Joseeph got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

ML Premiere: Calystarr - Sexy System [Espacio Cielo]

In a sonic realm where human ingenuity intertwines with alien machinery, the enigmatic duo known as SCADTA emerges with their third EP, 'Klaatu Barada Nikto.' With an otherworldly blend of electronic textures and mechanical rhythms, SCADTA transports listeners into a dystopian dreamscape,where artificial intelligence meets ethereal creativity.

From the opening track, it's evident that SCADTA's musical universe is a meticulously crafted one. 'Klaatu Barada Nikto' sets the tone with glitchy atmospheres and intricate synth sequences that pulse like intergalactic transmissions. The track's ebb and flow mirror the uncertainty and anticipation of an extraterrestrial encounter.

ELO's remix of 'Klaatu Barada Nikto' is a harmonious meeting of minds, where the international producer infuses his structured sonic landscape with the futuristic artistry of SCADTA. ELO's remix breathes new life by momentarily by drifting  away from its mechanical foundations, offering a glimpse into the consciousness through ethereal pads and frenetic arpeggios which transport the listener to a realm where machines dream and dance.

'Klaatu Barada Nikto' is a testament to SCADTA's ability to bridge the gap between the familiar and the alien, the human and the machine. Massimiliano Pagliara pays tribute to Manuel Göttsching in his first solo EP on his very own Funnuvojere Records, 'All the VCOs You Can Eat'. 

As a devoted fan of Göttsching's groundbreaking work, Pagliara draws inspiration from his musical hero, crafting a mesmerizing EP that encapsulates the spirit and innovation of Göttsching's influential sound. The release comprises three different interpretations of the same track, each imbued with exceptional artistry and technical knowledge. 

The ceaselessly rolling piano chords in A1 Modulator Mix and B1 Traveler Dub are clear reminders of Göttsching’s E2E4 famous hypnotic refrain. The slight tonal variations, the stretched-out acid line and the uplifting drums conspire to create a sense of transcendence and euphoria. The infectious drums have their own space in B2 The Lonely Drums. This mix has an irresistible groove that will make all dance floors bounce. 

The artwork by Pagliara’s dear friend, NYC-based artist Ben Ross Davis (https://www.benrossdavis.com), captures the essence of Pagliara’s music through a vibrant and emotive visual language, reminiscent of the pioneers of abstract expressionism.
