Born with the intention to launch the revival of 1970s italo disco, Toulouse-based label @ritmofatale revels in kitsch-tinged sounds. Their monthly sets showcase a variety of sounds, from italo disco to EBM, to new beat and trance, establishing their signature futuristic vibe.

Michel Amato's contribution to electronic music can barely be overstated. As TheHacker, and under different aliases, he has inspired generations of dance music fans and artists. Since his first release in 1996, Amato had a Techno phase, dipped into EBM, sci-fi tinged Electro and New Wave, but is perhaps most famous as a founding father of Electroclash. He met a kindred spirit in Miss Kittin and together they became of one the most iconic duos in electronic music, with hits such as 'Champagne' (1998) and 'Frank Sinatra' (2000) selling hundreds of thousands of records.

In 2004, Amato released his most well-recieved album to date, 'Rêves Mécaniques', and the years since witnessed Amato put out a wide array of club mutations on many leading labels, including a double LP for his own label Zone.

Today, he is as in-demand as ever, with a highly-acclaimed album, 'Le ThéâtreDes Opérations' landing on Dark Entries in 2017 and contributions to tastemakers like Helena Hauff, Erol Alkan and Veronica Vasicka's labels since. In the live and DJ environment, Amato is as revered as he is on record, playing high-profile events such as Dekmantel, Berghain, Nuits Sonores and Off Sonar.

The Frenchman was instrumental in the formative years of these movements and being active since the mid-90s has meant his discography is positively bursting with pivotal moments from electronic music. It is nearly impossible to discuss The Hacker without mentioning Miss Kittin, with some of their work such as “Champagne” EP including seminal tracks “Frank Sinatra” and “!982”. A sad private issue has kept me from posting for the last two months, but there is a huge mix that's waiting to be released since around the same time so now I can't let you wait any longer and have to finally put it out here where you can listen to this amazing hour of music of one of my "heroes":

@FredBerthet aka DJ Steef in my opinion is one of the most skilled editors out there. The way he crafts reknown songs into mesmerizing 21st century bangers of mighty groove and lost-in-sound contemplativeness, distilling their essentials, enhancing their atmosphere, sexyness and trippiness with perfectly dosed dub elements for me is absolutely mindblowing - I would really love to hear him playing live at a party! For those who like his music as much as I do, I recommend checking his vinyl outlet Biomix or his Bandcamp, where you can find some Biomix in digital format or delve into his current digital project "Love Saves".

I really hope you will enjoy this mix as much as I did, being excited by the beauty, intensity, profoundness and workmanship of those edits from beginning to end.
