Bufi is back with ‘México 70’ a new album, a couple of years after his sophomore LP on Discotexas ‘Revelación’.

With a broader, more eclectic palette of sounds and rhythms, this time the music gets infected with cowbells and bongoes, prehispanic samples, funky guitars, "guapachoso" basses and ethereal vocals. From the pseudo cumbia of "Hillalum (Amazónica)" to the suicidesque jam of "Impresionistas", this addictive album will induce you to have a lot of fun from the beginning till the end.

The artwork is a design by portuguese artist Braulio Amado, responsible for the covers of Bufi's previous two singles extracted from this same LP, "Brujerías" and "Hillalum (Amazónica)", released late 2018.

Nadav Spiegel AKA Autarkic and friend Neil Cohen launch their new label Age Of Self - a platform for both music and visual arts - with a three track EP from Nadav himself. Not willing to be constrained by genre, the label won't be navigated by a specific sound, only by what the pair are feeling. For their inaugural release their mission is simple: "to bring some joy and wit to the dark and grim dance floors of our recent times." Our pick is opening track 'A Number By Ilia Gosz' - a hypnotic and melodic cut punctuated by sharp synths and stuttering percussion.

British “outsider-electronic duo“ Cowboy Rhythmbox return to Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound with a  none-existing musical approach up to date from the cowboys Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Richard X themselves. As Detroit producer Sharif Laffrey took on remix duties for CR's 6AM Nathan and Richard remixed the remix of the track, expressing their appreciation of Sharif's work. The result of the remix remix, simply called Deviation Variation, falls into the category creative remarkableness. A lush yet bouncey bass line is equipped with sharp reverbing chords and blurry synths while partly implemented filter hi-hat rides and mono-alternating vocal-snippets are swaying from left to right. The remix reaches musical exellence once the disorted and echoing chord sequence makes its appearance adding a warm vitalness to the wild west Detroit-shooting.

Cowboy Rhythmbox's EP 6AM Cowboy is released on Phantasy Sound on April 10th, 2020.

Marco Freivogel's first solo release provides a fresh direction for this seasoned producer. Marco will already be known to those in the techno world for his live project Exercise One, with his partner of 10 years Ingo Gansera. As the full time producer of Exercise One, Marco has released
records on Mobilee, Wagon Repair, Cocoon and their own Exone & Lan Muzic labels, as well as remixing everyone from Shackleton and Peter Van Hosen to Sian and Dapayk & Padberg. But in the last few years Marco has been producing behind the scenes on a number of new projects for artists including Tiefschwarz, Dave Vega, Mama and Elif Bicer, and collaborating with friends on new music, such as last years stunning EP as Exercise One vs Mathew Jonson 'Lost Forever In Happy Crowd'. This 12" for Souvenir in 2013 will be the first solo release, but marco also has plans later in the year to introduce his new live solo techno project that's inspired by his early musical days playing in industrial bands. The original '11am (before)' is a winding house track, featuring the vocal talents of Elif Bicer, who's previously known for her work with Ben Klock, Prosumer and Steffi. For '11am (after)' Marco strips back the melodies and toughens things up. The remix comes courtesy of Canadian friends The Mole & Hreno, who deliver a characteristic bouncing rework to get the dance floors pulsing.

Theus Mago serves up a hypnotising triplet of tracks on the ‘Apache Nights’ EP for Dave Harvey’s Futureboogie, each cut brimming with psychedelic tendencies and an assured chugging pace, and British stalwarts, Chicken Lips, are on hand with a tantalising remix. 

Hailing from Mexico, Theus Mago may also be familiar to many as the man behind Bufi, and across both aliases, has released singles and albums for the likes of Electrique Music, Turbo, Roam Recordings, and his own Duro imprint.

‘Apache Nights’ is built upon an irresistible booming dudwise b-line and tight and lively rhythm section, as esoteric melodies and trippy samples & tones pan across the sound board.  British duo, Chicken Lips, have admirably served many year’s service in the alt.disco genre, and alongside their ground-breaking productions on Kingsize and Azuli, are probably more renowned for the raft of remixes turned in over the years for everyone from Newcleus to Simian Mobile Disco, Ladyhawke to Tiga, Ennio Morricone to Soul Mekanik.  For their ‘Chicken Lips Malfunction’ of ‘Apache Nights’, we’re slapped around the chops with a gargantuan nine-minute night ride!

‘Piu Mosso’ jumps on board the magic carpet for a transcendental journey, whilst ‘Sergio Ramos’ has Theus teaming up with Thomass Jackson (Gomma/Calypso Records) for a raw and minimal workout, brain scrambling sonics and a contagious groove that closes this exceptional release.
