Vicinity

This is a song I wrote in Koh Phangan, Thailand in the company of my dear soul sister, Geniene... who went from saying Jah when she had dreadlocks, to Kah when we arrived in Thailand as the customs go... and it's a mantra of peace and joy! It's awaiting a trumpet solo and I'm still learning the ropes of production so I'm open to thoughts and contributions.

Sleazy Pattern

First started writing sat around the lake in Bacoli, Italy in the photo.... when a conversation about Joe Pascuale turned me onto googling him and discovering that he impaled himself on a moose prop in Skegness... Hence, the opening line! 
I was breaking away from a man who I thought I'd been directed to... and it was all good, you know.... I'll just go find a new groove!

A snippet of a cover of one of my favourite songs of all time, "As" by Stevie Wonder. 
If you ask me, a really great addition for a set during a wedding!

Balearic Disco is all about a fusion of global styles... here we have the soul of Queens, New York from this 60s soul vocal of The Exciters via the North of England.... influences of techno and minimal beats as well as that Italo Stomp and also great work from the Italian fingers of Enrico Mafrin on keys, recorded in Valencia, Spain.  

Blowing Up

I've always loved the incredible conviction and passion in the original vocal of "Unfinished Sympathy"... It's what attracted me to the song and then once I figured out the chords for guitar, I started getting a great reaction to it live to so many different people. You can't tell what it is until that first lyric comes in.... I love playing this one.  
I recorded this in my San Antonio apartment on a Saturday afternoon in a few hours.

This is such a great tune by Sister Sledge and I've covered it in bands for years but never tried it acoustic.... but yes, it works! I was tempted to add in backing vocals and more guitar parts but I love the simplicity of it and I hope you all do too!

This is amongst a whole host of tunes I can perform live at parties, weddings and events across Ibiza where I'm based and internationally also!

Written completely from the heart and recorded completely by me. 
That's a first for me. 

Relationships are hard. Words are thrown. Cracks can show. Dial the dark in and get back to finding the reasons and the truth. That's the story behind the song. 

I've been wondering where to take this for a while and it's so special to me so any advice on mastering, release, who to take it to etc... please message me to let me know your thoughts. 
I have others that I've written at different stages of development in the hope of putting an album or EP together.

Dial The Dark In

Jasmine Flower is a poem I wrote, performed as a song.

I wrote it when I was in desperate need for solace and stillness, and I was lucky enough to be invited to spend the days I needed with friends who practise this kind of self-care on a professional level, running Pensee Sauvage. 
When I met them, they were my clients but we soon became friends and we already cherish some beautiful memories. 

It was their Jasmine bush that inspired these words at my first sunrise on staying there and it was simply intoxicating. Nature, for me, is one of the most inspiring things around us and noticing things, noticing how it changes, is one of my great joys. 
It has probably slowed me down, having a garden to tend, and roots to cherish. 

This is the first song I wrote on my latest instrumental acquisition - my Gretsch Electromatic. It's a joy that I'm probably not taking enough advantage of. Note to self : see previous sentence. 

The vocals and the guitar are both one take each. I like it this way sometimes. It's just natural and delicate and honest.
My plug-ins also weren't appearing so there are no effects at all on my voice, it's entirely natural and unedited.
