PGM SESSIONS 034 with AKA CARL:
Carl Bateson, better known as Aka Carl, is since long a household-brand in the techno scene. Besides his work as a producer, his highly acclaimed label Sub Cult has also caught the eyes and ears of the very artists that influenced him in the beginning of his career. Techno giants like Ben Sims, Jeff Mills, Paul Mac, Veztax, Dave the Drummer, Preach, A. Paul, Pedro Delgardo and lots more have supported him, his label and/or shared the stage with him. Highly motivated to constantly better himself Carl studied CPD in labels and the music industry at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), obtained a degree in sound-engineering and design at Manchester’s School of Sound and Recording (SSR) and gained more working experience at the Technics DJ Academy Manchester. You can find his work everywhere, dominating the charts in various stores, appearing on formidable labels like Hydraulix, Soul Access, Yin Yang, Naked Lunch and so on, or behind the scenes as a mastering engineer for several known artists. Always growing and never pausing on his road to the top, Carl is undoubtedly one to follow.

Nelly Jay's ear for music developed at an early age and he was off to the races. This natural drive, along with the ability to turn people on to unfamiliar sounds with his unique taste and style, made him destined to do something notable with music in time to come. Being influenced early on by 90’s hip-hop, exposure to the rave and club scene, and Chicago House Nelly's passion for house and tech music was set in motion. Staying true to his roots, Nelly often brings elements of hip-hop and his other early influences into his sets while turning out cutting edge percussive tech-house beats. Nelly has been involved with Pure Gonzo Music from the start, keeping the rest of his contemporaries and music contacts up to date with the latest and most rare gems…perpetuating his reputation as ‘A DJ’s DJ’.  He has played some legendary underground sets over the years at rooms as big as Club Love and parties that are staples of NYC nightlife. With his successful podcast PGM Sessions, which has stood the test of time retaining it’s underground following, Nelly has not only been sharing his own music but has also been putting out mixes from his favorite DJs from around the globe.  Nelly’s PGM podcasts have featured music early on from Spain with Safir Muzic, to Hungary with Egothermia Records, to acts as well known for their underground sound.
