This March, Dutch drum and bass connoisseur Maztek returns to his very own label, 0101 Music, with the whopping 28-track compilation The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue.

Showcasing a mixture of releases from his formative years – dating all the way back to 2012 – and previously unheard VIPs, the new LP serves as a timely primer to the Haarlem DJ/producer’s extensive musical arsenal.

Included in the package are every single one of his past drops on revered label Renegade Hardware, including 2013’s M Theory EP, the critically acclaimed debut album Three Point Zero (2014) and a tag-team remix of “Limber” from late legend Optiv and Brazilian powerhouse BTK, all of which have proven to be fan favourites over the years. With some of these having previously been absent from streaming services and primarily available on vinyl, both die-hard followers and newcomers alike are in for a treat.

First landing exclusively via Maztek’s Bandcamp back in December, this essential collectors’ item has since been fortified with an additional three brand-new VIPs: a slinking reinterpretation of the choppy 2013 neurofunk triumph “iMaz”; a gritty, stuttering overhaul of the 2012 Subculture signing “Up & Down”; and a snarling spin on one of his best-known hits, “From the Shadows”, which features vocal contributions from local hip-hop heavyweights Dope D.O.D.

With Maztek known today not only as a musician but also as a label boss and preeminent purveyor of high-quality D&B, it’s a timely opportunity to reflect on his musical journey up to now. The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue LP lands 15th March via digital vendors and streaming services.

You may or may not have heard of Japans hottest new export? Well Briefly. He came to London in 2011 and fell in love with the sounds of Drum & Bass & Jungle music. Mainly interested in Old Skool 90’s & Jump up from labels such as V Records, True Playaz, Joker, Dope Dragon, Dread, Ruffneck Ting, Suburban Bass, Kemet Kru, Trouble on Vinyl and many more. He found where his true soul belongs. After so much Love for the sound and music he began to produce and write his own music in 2013 for labels such as YOUNG GUNS & ORIGINAL KEY. Since then he moved to Germany in 2017 to further his craft within the scene and to connect with people from around the world with his unique sound and take on the form.

Starting off the show we have MUSASHI named after his home town back in Japan, and trust we. He’s took this one back home to the front door. Hard stepping beats thump ya face from the get go to make the intro roll out nice and easy until we reach the penultimate drop. Stop, Pause, Bassline, Dance is whats on the menu right here as the twisted bass tones melts with the structured drum pattern to bring this moulded gem . A true roller indeed if thats your thing and one tune that is set to make the dance floor go off at any time trust we. We have seen it in action.

Next up we have TIGER FIST with its western oriental styled intro to make you draw for the samurai sword or gun for that matter. Once again full on military drums take over a hard reece tone to get you in the mood for this worker of a track. Roaring Tigers Kung Fu samples take full hold while the sub bass just take you on a journey to the unknown. This one is bound to please the heads out there…

Other Tracks on the EP include YO which has been murdering dance floors around the world from Tokyo to London to Manchester and beyond. Also on the E.P we have THE TOXIC AVENGER, DANGEROUS NIGHT and closing off the EP in fine style with TIME. TOMOYOSHI is one producer to be on the look out for months to come as his style and sound are being supported by some of the best artists within the scene. We welcome TOMOYOSHI to the NEMESIS family and look forward to watching his flourishing career in the drum & bass scene……

NEMESIS RECORDINGS was formed in 2005 by none other than SILVER aka NORTH BASE who thought it would be a good place to output the love he had for jungle / drum & bass music. Starting with only tape cassettes back in early 1993, SILVER got more and more into learning about music technology and recording his own music. Buying old computers like ATARI ST, COMMODORE 64, SPECTRUM ZX & AKAI, EMU samplers, SILVER got more and more into making drum and bass and continued to push his sound through his label. 

After meeting with partner in crime SONIC at a party and talked about music all night. They formed and created ACCIDENTAL HEROES and SONIC SILVER moniker, and the rest they say is history. Having had many releases on labels such as METALHEADZ, VIRUS, V RECORDS, INFRARED, REINFORCED, SILVER thought it was about time and release the first 12 inch record on NEMESIS RECORDINGS and signed a single from XAMPLE (RAM RECORDS) & SOL and the label went on from strength to strength.
