Be Like The Tree is a spoken word poetry piece inspired by the way in which we are humbled by nature. It is about growth, letting go of ego, enduring suffering and ultimately living with the purpose of becoming light, of finding peace. This poem is spoken over an instrumental piece from our 2020 album REALMS entitled I Move Beyond the Physical and the footage was taken by us in Adelaide park lands.

Done was an experiment to see what would happen if we were to create a song and film clip in a short time frame without leaving our home. 

The song is made entirely of samples which we captured around our house and then manipulated into playable midi instruments. For example the bass line was created from our dog's (Australian Kelpie) bark and the synths were made from the sounds of cracking ice and the rumbling air-conditioner. The film clip was shot in our backyard and garage, except for the footage of the Boobook Owl which was taken by our friend Tamara Gordon.

Every sound on this beat (except for vocals and lead guitar) was made using NASA sound samples taken from the surface of Mars. These sounds were  turned into playable instruments using Ableton Live (check out our channel for videos showing how we did this). Turning samples captured in different spaces into songs is a big part of our practice. We love to capture the vibe and atmosphere of spaces within our music. 

To go along with the self-produced track, we made a clay stop motion film clip set on a Mars-like world. On this barren and dying world ruled by sand and stone, a lone survivor and wanderer seeks a miracle. On him he carries the last remaining seeds, the only hope for a living future. NEOFIX make hypnotic, conceptual, sensory and sometimes downright psychedelic music, poetry and sonic art.

The Ambient experimental duo  from Adelaide's West Side are breaking boundaries with their sonic and visual art which draws inspiration from urban, natural and even celestial spaces. Creators Johnny and Cate live by the ethos "everything is something" as they seek to capture the surreal and complex world around them, collecting sound samples, footage and photography wherever they go. These raw materials are deconstructed and reassembled  into the music and art of Neofix.
Combined with the signature Neofix dreamy vocals and psychedelic guitar, the result is ambient, textured and atmospheric music to elevate, inspire and re-imagine the human experience.
