This cover was so much fun- Aro's adult tone ended up sounding perfect for the lead vocal, so I decided to use it last minute. Kemonone Row felt a lot more comfortable singing in the higher octave as well, and it added some nice contrast.
Finally, I definitely had to include both Utsuho and Naoki in this, because they are literally so adorable together...

All in all, this project took me like 50+ hours in total. I first had to make the UST and teach it to them, and then I had to do all the recording and mixing after that. Not to even mention the insanity of editing this frikkin video ahahaha. I based it heavily on the original (by Char), but I threw a whole new color scheme and style into the mix.

Honestly I really enjoyed this whole project. Mixing the audio was probably the most annoying part because the instrumental was so dense, but I'd say I got it to sound pretty good! I also tried a new vocal mixing technique where I layered two separate recordings and panned them to separate sides...it created a really immersive effect which sounds awesome in headphones :D

I also had Kemonone Row (獣音ロウ) and Giga Lacan (戯歌ラカン) cheer in the background :3

I went a little overboard with this cover too... I couldn't find a good instrumental of Silent Night to use, mainly because they were live performed and had fluctuating tempo- so I improvised on the piano a bit and came up with this arrangement while using a MIDI file from this website as inspiration. (https://www.westnet.com/Holiday/midi/)
I also included an instrumental section which features the melody of "Peace, Peace," written by Michael Crawford and Rick & Sylvia Powell.
All the instruments used for the arrangement are from Spitfire Audio LABS. Making this from (basically) scratch was definitely a fun challenge! Now that I know how well Aro's sweet tone sounds with lullaby style songs, I have a few ideas for later~

I had a fun time with the backing vocals too lol. And another little detail: I tested out OpenUtau when I was working on this cover and oh boy, it's really cool XD
Using OpenUtau's extremely convenient flag and velocity editors, I *really* spiced up the expression on the lead vocals, and just exported the project as a normal UST after. Normal UTAU works better with MoreSampler though.

This cover is quite special for 4 reasons... first of all, I transcribed Shimamo's piano playing to make the off vocal, since I play the piano myself- I really love the final result; second of all, this cover features Aro's sweet tone- yes; third of all, I figured out how to use endbreaths- and OH MY GOSH THEY ADDED THE COOLEST TOUCH; and fourth of all, I had a fun time with the lyric animation for this video! Step 2: I transcribed it... it's 6 parts- 4 of them are backing harmony, which was SUPER COMPLICATED JAZZ CHORD CHAOS
Step 3: LYRICS- this was interesting. Not because of the main melody, but because of all the backing vocals which have lyrics you don't usually find in Japanese songs- XD (bah, dah, dun, doo, etc.) and I had to figure them out by ear too ahaha

Yet another cover for which I sacrificed a lot of sleep to get done on time- shhhh I'm not obsessed XD ALSO FIRST COVER WITH COMMISSIONED ART- AAAAH KEMMUONO DID SO WELL WITH IT- Incredible art meant I wanted the cover to be amazing too... I was still a bit rushed to get it done this fast, but there are a bunch of little things that make this cover special and unique. First of all I'm working on trying more realistic tuning- second, my mixing techniques are getting more advanced (of course I included a choir and some fun adlibs), which I find quite cool. But third, the idea to make this cover actually came because of a request from ronaro5729... I have been working on a bunch of new covers, a few of which I still need artwork for (let me know if you're interested, I'll definitely commission you!) This cover features some new techniques I picked up while working on future covers :3 it's definitely some of my best work, so I hope you like it.

This song is extremely bittersweet. It tells of nostalgic times gone by, things lost to time, things having changed in one way or another, and yet through it all, still embarking on a journey to find peace. It's a song of humble acceptance despite such lofty dreams never coming to fruition. A song of mourning loss, and yet choosing to continue on while holding the past and all its beauty in your hands.

BakemonoWolf passed away at the age of 24 due to kidney failure last year on May 15th, 2023. Bake was known in the UTAU community for being kind, approachable, very friendly to anyone he interacted with, and a great friend to those who got to know him. I studied Jazz harmony to make this cover XD I tried to give it that barbershop flare, with 7th chords and fun traveling harmonies. It's an American traditional harmony style! Hope you like how it sounds! The piano was way too fun to play as well.

For a while, I had no idea what song I was going to cover this year XD but I decided on this one at the last minute; covering the original song felt like it would kinda just be a meme, so I put my own twist on it!
