They simply called it “The Laboratory.” There were no windows — only the hum of life-support systems and aquariums filled with lifeforms that defied classification. On evenings like this, Spacelunch would tune the setup, Cat would yank out unnecessary cables with his tail, and everything would freeze in anticipation of the signal. A deep, steady mix filled the space, seeping into reservoirs, consoles, and whispering sensors. Something flared, something trembled — as if the environment itself was trying to synchronize with the rhythm. Later, a new chapter would appear in the Professor’s log: “Sample 93.”

Next one in our OYE Podcast series is our regular customer Katharina aka Kat Davids. Her beautiful mix moves between deep and dub house. It has a dreamy and light structure, it flows… Including some all-time classics this is a must listen piece of music.

Berlin based DJ & Producer Kat Davids' selections are inspired by the depth of Detroit, Body-High Dub house, Deep house and Dub techno. Whether holding a tight atmosphere at a club or letting loose at festivals - always striving to allow people to lose oneself in a musical journey for a night.

With an intimate space that feels raw and honest, Kats’ music is characterized by her own vocals, field recordings, playful percussions and driving bass lines. Her releases “dust” on Intercept Records, the single “Haunted” on Tresor Records, and a collaboration track with Cecilia Tosh on the Nachtdigital Vinyl LP, will be followed by her debut Vinyl EP in 2025.

She has played at some well-known institutions such as Tresor, Watergate, Revier Südost, ELSE Club, Weltspiele Hannover and toured in Latin America and South Africa with diverse DJ gigs and DJ Workshops. Since her LIVE Set debut at Berghain / Säule 2024, she had LIVE appearances at festivals like Nachtdigital.

Since November 2022, she has hosted her own regular show on the well-established THF Radio Berlin, featuring over 50 guests ranging from newcomers to legends. In the summer of 2022, she also founded the FLINTA* collective V.A. Femme* with the aim of fostering mutual support and providing a space to learn and exchange musically.

The air becomes porous, woven from silk and static. There is no need to move, think, or feel heavy anymore. You are simply a vibration held together by the delicate tension of a whisper.

Bio/
Brickman creates music that blends dub techno, deep house, and ambient styles, utilising multilayered sound textures, classic dub echoes, electronic rhythms, and deep sub-bass to develop a unique sound. His first release was in 2010, when he collaborated with Russian and European labels on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. His tracks have been featured in DJ sets by notable artists like John Digweed and Marco Carola.
From 2010 to 2019, Brickman performed at various clubs in St. Petersburg and participated in festivals and radio shows. He also took part in the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp and created soundscapes for art exhibitions. Since 2022, he has shifted to a studio format, combining analogue and digital synthesisers and a variety of audio techniques to shape his music.
