Postatomic Shores

It seemed at the time I was going through the darkest times ever, and  trying to learn the lesson from artists all over history, I thought it was a great idea to channel it into a track.

Of course things never quite go as planned when you're playing with that stuff creatively, that's why somehow that ended up being projected in 2 tracks of which this is the first.

It's the more refined, though the angrier of the two, might feel raw, but somehow it's actually scorched, it also happens to be the only track in the album to feature some actual hardware synthesis, taken from an awesome Alesis Ion, the instrument on which I learned the basics of synthesis

This track was started quite some time ago, actually even before I had finished Deep Waters, it was somehow the track that made me think the album was complete, as from the beginning this seemed not to belong.

As Megalodon didn't eventually appear on Deep Waters, this doesn't appear in "il crepuscolo delle Idee" but somehow it is the seed that grew into the whole album. 

In the picture you can admire the insides of my computer at the time I started making the track.

The Computer Did It, I Only Filled In The Blanks (and there weren't many)

A few minutes before pressing the rec button, I felt inspired, I thought I had an idea, I was messing around on the keyboard, there was a somewhere my hands felt like going... in the time I started Ableton and got going, this what was left... or well not exactly, I might have carried on longer, but I felt those 2 minutes were enough.

Still, some almost ancient digital piano (this is a CP-33) through a modern digital reverb sounds well... bad enough, but quite expressive, enough for my rusty hands to almost feel like they're still making some sense :)

Cheesy, Pointless, Badly Executed, But Short Enough Piano Solo

Seems like I'm getting lazy, but not quite. This is sort of a faster remake of a 6 year old idea, changing a lot in the sound design, adding something in the arrangement... it weirdly seems to work though it is well... 50bpms faster than the original, the idea of making this faster version of it was there almost from the beginning, but seemed a little too silly, but since I'm on a hunt for unfinished business in my hard drive, this was first.

The Ephemeral Shine Of A Spotless Bathroom

This isn't really a track.
It's a couple of drum loops and me messing over them with some presets on the Blofeld, done mostly because I'm selling that little evil thing and I felt like getting some sound out of it.

Yet, I kinda like the groove and some of the ideas, I might actually get something out of it.

also, I just discovered Soundcloud doesn't consider "funk" to be an existing genre of music, so I had to make it a custom genre track :D

Blofunk

Music emerged from a long and suffered time of transformation, through the most disturbing global scenarios to equally troubling personal ones, the thing that first and foremost gave me hope and kept up the will to live was music, and not only listening to music, but making music, as a practice of self discovery and a gift.

The experience of being locked in a house with little to no social interaction forces self reflection, making the resolution of inner conflict urgent and pressing, the self finds its way to have its voice heard, to make your own lies obvious and weak, making change inevitable

As a character in one of the greatest graphic novels of the last century, on whom obviously the cover art draws inspiration, said, while locked in a prison with a bunch of criminals wanting to kill him "it's not me locked in here with you, you all are locked in here with me"
Without external distractions, it becomes inevitable to realize It's not your true self locked with your lies and hypocrisies, but the other way around.

Some seem to use music as pure "background" for whatever they're doing, this is not designed for that use, it's intended to be "old fashioned" art, designed to blow your mind, shake your foundations through listening and dancing.

I tend to use very few samples, almost no presets, and I try to make all my music ground up, from programming envelopes to mastering, 
Please, respect the fact that I'm not that determined in winning the loudness war as much as making things sound good on a big soundsystem, therefore most of my stuff is NOT optimized for laptop speakers.
