The idea of these meditative sessions was born at the beginning of March when lockdown in Italy began with the plan to release one track every week till the end of April.
The purpose of these meditation sessions was to offer beauty, peace and love to all the listeners and I'm honoured to have received such positive feedbacks that let me know this musical journey has gone in the right direction.

It's been a crazy year so far, with the entire scene having to adapt to keep the momentum going. The Ambush Family collective (Carasel MC, Texas, Akespeare & Kaydan), have used the time to reflect on their long journey in the game, culminating in an epically nostalgic track produced by Stanza.

Aesette X Osiris Marshall - Forest

The third installment of Plastician's Wavepool series sees 33 tracks land on Terrorhythm, five years on from the initial mix that sparked conversation about the genre's potential.

Fast forward to 2020 and the sound and community surrounding "Wave" has grown and splintered into offshoots such as "Hardwave" which has seen the sound adopted by DJ's more likely to be found in huge concert stages than small dark basement venues. With community still at the heart of the sound, this compilation rings truer to the origins of the genre, with nods to the future, brighter end of the Wave scape throughout the compilation. Producers from 3 continents are represented - documenting the scene's growth way beyond the circles it one operated within. As the sound metamorphosises from URL to IRL, it's clear to hear how varied the style has become since the previous Wavepool outing in 2017, with Eastern Europe's flashes of Trance influence dancing in tandem with the UK's Grime and Garage influence, as well of course as the tried and tested foundations built on the USA's Trap rhythms and drum samples.

With the genre moving at a rapid pace, Plastician's ear for the smoother end of the sound keeps a tight grip on the majority of the selections in hand, but we are reminded of just how bright and colourful this genre can be with bursts of energy throughout the compilation - bringing a well rounded taster for any curious ears out there.

The Wave is certainly not just a classroom exercise....

These last few months have been a roller coaster for me. So much so that I've had to take a step back from making and releasing music as much as I once was.

On June 29th, 2020 I got a call that my father had passed away surprisingly of a heart attack while mowing the lawn. He was 56. I wrote this song a few years ago - about a conversation I had with a now ex-girlfriend. She said I was showing signs of alcoholism, and that I got my addictive personality from my father. That I'd be just like him. I was in a mixed up place then. Getting out of that relationship, and trying to move onto a new one while still wondering if she was right.

I was never going to release this song publicly, but since my father's passing I've been listening and re-working the song a little bit, and it's taken on a completely new importance to me personally. I feel like I have to release it now. A signal of a rebuilding. A come back. A fresh start, and I'm going to do it my way this time.

A podcast for a positive future! To host fun conversations to illuminate the path out of this oppressive leviathan, towards an ideal society.

Terence McKenna once said, "If we continue going where we're headed, we'll end up living in a toxic waste dump ruled over by Nazis." 30 years later, we are still driving down that same road. How do we escape this fate? Is there another path? 

If we are going to escape our default dystopian trajectory, we need a map. Reactionary forces in our society are afraid of the unknowable future, so they vociferously grasp towards an unrecoverable romanticized past, for lack of an alternative vision. The status quo has become untenable, so something has to give. We forward-thinkers must get better at articulating the future we want to see, otherwise we will slide back into the worst aspects of historical injustice, and things will get very ugly indeed.

To create a world worth living in, we need help. No one can create the future alone. Whatever the fate of our species will be, it will be a manifestation of our collective will. The people own the future. It does not belong to any elite. But most people don't even bother confronting the future, because they are kept treading water by an economic system that treats them as mere instruments of production. The working class is deliberately distracted from thinking about big picture questions like Does it really have to be this way? What is the good life? How should society be organized? What would we do with our time if money was no object? What does utopia look like from here? and How the fuck do we really accelerate the evolutionary path towards it?

Utopian Cartography will feature artists, activists, intellectuals, & event producers from whom I have gained great insights about the potential of a positive future. When I woke up to the ways of the world years ago, I became overwhelmingly depressed by the apocalypse. I was convinced we were headed straight for the Nazi toxic waste dump Terence warned us about. Then I discovered utopia. My eyes were opened yet further, and I learned that the revelations of our as yet unrealized liberation had a purpose. I came to appreciate the fact that "change only occurs when the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of changing." Apocalypse is a necessary precursor to utopia. We can only see the garden beyond the veil by first confronting the ills of the status quo. Utopia is out there, if only we know how and where to look.

So if you want to shed some of that existential despair and pessimism about the possibility of a good future for humanity and our planet, give this show a listen. We will do our best to illustrate the rational case for optimism about the future, with a philosophically & historically informed evolutionary perspective, streetwise cynicism, and a healthy dose of psychedelic trickster irreverence. 

To be hopeless is to disregard history. The future can be better than any of us imagine, so let's figure out how to get there.
