I discovered at my brother’s funeral that one of the most difficult things to deal with was having a daughter who is sobbing her heart out about her uncle Brian when you are sobbing your heart out about your brother Brian and she is looking to her Dad for some help and, if possible, an explanation. No explanation could possibly quell such tears but, as her Dad, I’ll always be there to love and help her in any way I can.

A few days after the funeral, Charlotte was still very upset, saying to me “I’m really missing him again”.  When I’m finding times difficult, I have a tendency to write songs about them as both a way of channeling those emotions into something creative and also to leave me with a memory of how I was feeling at the time.  So I suggested she might consider writing some words about how she was feeling.  Having never written anything like that before, she asked if I would help, so we sat down together and used “I’m really missing you again “ as a starting point, eventually coming up with a tune we thought fitted the words.   

Somehow, songs always seem to develop a direction of their own and with such an emotional subject, the words began to do the same, Charlotte recalling how she felt about the family times we’d all spent together.  Despite her initial doubts, she soon took complete control and was soon fashioning the song into the shape she wanted.  I had a slight input with the words and music here and there but the song belongs totally to her.

You’ll no doubt be very pleased to hear that Charlotte is absolutely and totally thrilled with the final result.  Much of that is down to Gordon and Chris.  Working with them on the song has been such a pleasure, for which we owe them a huge debt of thanks.

Once settled in Artica Point, almost frozen, I watch the world happening fast, and I tell you about by singing five verses with different vocal styles, a main instrumental theme in progress all along, and some bits of the other songs in the album to keep it conceptual ;)

Psychosomatic I'm sick mind over matter I guess I know I'll manage through this although its mad I admit kausing much damage for its oowwnn advantage to get going with grammar and wit heart and soul standard equipped microphone crackle is mixed style has no master to WIP silence holds after the clip you might not know that exists while zoning out on this it's like there are shadow effects lines overcast nonetheless rhymes slowly scatter and split find you and flatten your wig smashing it in like a hammer in fist scatterbrained I would not suggest you imagining this the shock and awe just might cause cardiac arrest
