As 2020-2021 drained slowly into black and white for so many, I turned inwards and to those closest around me and thankfully managed to fill my world with the brightest colour. These songs provided a place for me to celebrate love and feel truly free through such a difficult time. Now a new chapter of SOLAH unfolds as she starts her journey on Hospital Records with a stunning two-track release ‘Everything Is Possible’ / ‘Fly’, produced by the legendary BCee. Expect many more exciting projects on the horizon from Hospital’s exciting new vocalist.

Soulful keys and heartfelt vocal melodies kickstart the release as SOLAH gets straight into showing exactly what she’s about on ‘Everything Is Possible’. Expect a gorgeous drum & bass-meets-R&B love song with inspirational lyricism intertwined with a deep, stepping instrumental.

The foundations of ‘Fly’ are more stripped-back in vibe, giving space for SOLAH to do what she does best and step to the forefront with enchanting vocals and uplifting harmonies. Ever the messenger for optimism and hopefulness, SOLAH’s raw and emotive lyrics capture the feels alongside rolling breaks and a throbbing sub bass.

With a solid and consistent string of back catalogue releases, spanning many of the most respected labels in drum & bass including Critical, 1985, Shogun, Spearhead and Ish Chat Music, SOLAH has also racked up vast amounts of industry support from big hitters including Ministry of Sound, UKF and was shortlisted ‘Best Vocalist’ in the 2017 Drum&BassArena Awards. And in case that wasn’t enough - she was also the voice behind Top 10 UK Chart hit ‘Get Out My Head’ by Shane Codd. Continuing to expand their repertoire further afield into the realms of drum & bass, Hospital Records proudly welcome Soulvent Records into the family! Soulvent has been at the forefront of the new generation of drum and bass since 2014. Founded by Joe Goss, Jack (Pola) Higgins and Liam Holyoak-Rackal, it all started over a conversation at a dubstep rave in the toilets. Since then, Soulvent have gained a reputation for their high calibre releases and vibe-packed events. The ‘Soulvent Meets Hospital’ compilation sees both imprints unite over 14 brand spanking new remixes of a selection of classics from the Hospital and Soulvent back catalogues - this is a serious sound collision!

Tuck straight into the album with Nu:Tone’s dreamlike remix of the soul-oozed ‘Butterfly Effect’ by GLXY featuring Hugh Hardie and Visionobi. With the original racking up well over 1 million streams as well as support from Skankandbass, it is without a doubt one of Soulvent’s most remarkable releases. Nu:Tone delivers mesmerizing rolling drumwork, fluttering synths and his signature deep bassline injections on his 2022 remix.
 
Hugh Hardie steps up to the plate on remix duties for Japan-based Mountains’ electrifyingly feel-good track ‘I’m Free’ (feat. Kojo)’. Taking it into darker territories, Hugh switches it up and provides an upbeat stepper layered with mind warping basses and skittery plucks which are a sublime complement to the original which was taken from Mountain’s debut self-titled LP on Soulvent Records in March 2022.

Rising talent and one-to-watch DJ and producer Vektah has been making noise in the scene since his debut EP ‘Culture Shift’ dropped on Soulvent last year. Vektah heads up a jungle infused remix of Fred V’s ‘Program & Control’, taken from Fred V’s debut solo album ‘Radiate’. Expect enchanting chimes, shimmering synthesis and crystal clear percussion.

VA EP series ‘Tonics: Batch 1’ which shone a light on some of the scene’s mosst exciting upcoming talent. Whiney crafts up an instant rave damager with system thumping wobbles and pounding drums. 

Staples of the drum & bass scene Pola and Bryson delve deeply into Bop x Subwave’s lofi-meets-electronica inspired anthem ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’. On this rendition, the duo continue to demonstrate their multifaceted production styles through crisp percussion and gorgeous atmospherics.

Hospital Records proudly present the second instalment of their fresh ‘Ultrasounds’ release series which shines a spotlight on some of the most exciting artists outside of the NHS roster. Talented MC and vocalist Slay continues the series, and being no stranger to releasing on the south London drum & bass imprint since his recent link up with Whiney on ‘Back In Action’ from Lens’ ‘Hospital Mixtape’, the Manchester-born wordsmith has been championed as one the best new voices in the underground and has recently been stepping up to become a familiar voice in drum and bass. Electrifying the 174BPM circuit over the last few years through dropping gems on V Recordings, Critical and The North Quarter, he’s now making his mark on Hospital with four fresh cuts as part of his ‘Ultrasounds Vol. 2’ EP which fully drops on Friday 15th July.

‘Vibing On My Own’ is set to be the sound of summer. Slay delivers retrospective lyricism about spending alone time in the music and getting “lost up in the drums and the bass”. Slay’s rhymes align perfectly with Sl8r’s production as the fellow Mancunian provides a vibey roller layered with crisp percussion and slick piano chords.

Rough and rugged breakbeats and lethal bass injections from Chimpo & Sl8r set the tone for Slay’s colossal punchlines and unmatched raw energy, with the Manchester crew out in full force on the first EP single ‘Dis One’. An undeniable dancefloor shredder, once again this top trio provides the magic after previously linking up on the phenomenal old-school roller ‘Falling’ released on V Recordings. 

A dreamlike drum & bass trio, Slay teams up with A Little Sound and Lenzman on ‘Taste Of Gold’. Switching up his flow the Mancunian MC supplies calming atmospherics with laidback verses. Lenzman crafts up his signature soulful D&B production opening the track with soul drenched piano chords and luscious drum work. The North Quarter label head continues to supply the sweetest of liquid cuts. Expect enchanting vocals and melodies courtesy of A Little Sound who has been rapidly rising the ranks in the scene since dropping releases on Born On Road and Elevate Records. 

Final track ‘Badman MC’ sees Slay step into eerier soundscapes as he tells the story of how he entered the realms of being an artist. He’s joined by Chimpo once again who chimes in on production duties taking you on a journey through the tale of his jungle influences. Listen in as these two manifest their effortless ability at being some of the the most untestable MCs.
