Canadian producer marv.in.gardens hits Truth for the first time with a banging four track release.

The EP named ‘Fully Serviced’ contains 4 original compositions intended for the after hours dancefloor. The EP pulls inspiration from acid house, old school four-on-the-floor thumpers, and melodic techno all blended together with lofi flavours.

A side begins with “Playin” a fun light groove with choppy vocal loops, scattered between playful percussion. Next, "Can't Be" drops in with a driving acid baseline, allowing the listener to find their footing and enjoy the growling synths rising and falling throughout this dance floor heater.

Moving on to side B, marv.in.gardens ups the tempo and lowers the fidelity with “Above” a raw spacey track creating a mood that speaks for itself. We close with the ambitious musical journey that is “Odyssey” featuring bright layers of melodic arpeggios that guide you through space and time.

Prayer For Peace is the latest LP from Melbroune-hailing nu-jazz maestro Ziggy Zeitgeist and his band, Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange. This is Ziggy’s first full-length project with his current lineup based in Berlin since having moved there in the summer of 2019, and the first to be released on newly-founded label, Get Together Collective. Recorded over a 3-day period in the revered Jazzanova studios in Berlin, and with engineering and mixing handled by master producer Axel Reinemer, this album serves up an ecstatic 8-track showcase of the band’s freewheeling, live-jam oriented approach to jazz-fusion-inspired groove-making.  

	Clocking in at track six on the album, “Tightrope” balances many of the various elements that make Ziggy and co.’s music so electrifying. The opening half of the track, which features a mix of steady percussion, warbly bass, funky keys, congas and bongos, feels in line with much of the tradition of jazz-fusion pioneers of the past. But what easily could have become mere pastiche soon escalates into something entirely unique and entrancing. The beat steadily grows more erratic and unfettered once it passes the halfway point, with the tempo and build-up hinting at a techno-like drop. The band never quite lets the track devolve into a state of pure sonic catharsis, however, as they wrangle it back into the jazz-fusion rhythm they so expertly established in the opening half, while still allowing it to develop and evolve in organic ways until petering out at the end.

Ziggy and his cohort liberally take elements from various genres and styles to pay homage to them, while effortlessly staging jaw-dropping feats of experimentation and improvisation. A tough balancing act, indeed, but one that they pull off with panache.

@dylandylanmusic gets things started with a slice of deep, UKG style beats, @marcbrauner & @jimbomack collaborate and make a continuation of the UKg vibe with a German flavour, followed by @foreachlt with a serious dose of uplifting breakbeat business. @togethrs produces some sublime drum & bass sounds, and @minorsineproject brings us vibey, acid breaks. @financialbanker supplies some atmospheric, laid back rhythms, followed by @norusmusic & @djwhiprsnipr who drop a powerful chunk of bassline orientated material. @withheldmusic brings the heat with an extended, melodic breakbeat excursion and lastly, @florianstuetzer winds things down with a deep and blissful track that serves up luscious pads and ingenious rhythms. “4” represents 4 variation styles that the producer fell for many years ago. The selected tracks were produced between 2017 and 2019, with dance in his sight, as demonstrated by the success of the track “La Danse Groove” in the eyes of House Dance lovers.
"Nina’s Talk" give off strong and mastered rhythmics; the energy of the tracks sends us directly to New Jersey of the 90’s. “Feelings” stays geographically close since it crawls in underground New York, where jazz and house music met.
“LL Tribute” is a spiritual connection between Chicago and NYC. It’s a hidden tribute to one of the main characters of the underground New York scene, between The Loft and Paradise Garage, where all social and cultural background were blending, dreaming of a passionate freedom.
