Berlin-based DJ Kiralexandr began his musical journey with the guitar, exploring melody and rhythm long before stepping behind the decks. In 2023, while living in Istanbul, he discovered electronic music not just as a listener but as a form of self-expression – marking the start of a new chapter.

Drawn to hypnotic grooves and expressive sonic landscapes, his sets blend Progressive House with touches of Melodic Techno, guided by mood, atmosphere, and intuition. Whether it’s a gentle warm-up or a deep dive into the night’s sound, Kirill plays with a sense of narrative and subtle musical dramaturgy.

Now based in Berlin, he continues to shape his sound, inspired by the city’s rich culture and seeking a musical dialogue where genre matters less than feeling, flow, and true presence.

On the hillsides, their villas shine like diamonds, and in the clubs that rose like cathedrals of sin above the cliffs they move with the polished grace of automation. Their smiles are perfectly calibrated, their laughter programmed to a specific frequency of delight. They are the super-rich, living a life of pure hedonism…

They don't taste the fancy cocktails; they analyze their chemical composition. They are not living; they are executing a sequence of experiences designed to prove they are alive. When the music stops, and the sun rises, they simply power down, waiting for the next night to reboot their beautiful, decadent, empty lives.

Synth ambassadors Birdsnake create their own brand of psychedelic infused downtempo electronica, exploring the line between digital and organic. A free-flowing sensory 
experience, the band seamlessly combines acid jazz, droney textures and dubbed out rhythms. New single ‘Hydrostatic  Pressure’ shares familial qualities with previous release ‘Rare 
Amulet’ that feel aquatic in sound, yet are contrasted with a dance floor focused tempo and darker instrumentation. Hydrostatic Pressure is released on Thursday 28th August, 
and is the second single taken from the band’s debut album  Biofilter’, slated for release on Friday 14th November via Bathtub Music. 

Shimmering chimes and pads of wind-like synthesisers slowly build to a cascade of bubbling percussion and flutters of flute.  Charging four-to-the-floor kick drum bursts through, with shuddering sound effects intermingled with deep  horn-like accents, bringing to mind giant rolling sea vessels. Far away kalimba and metallic bells drift in  and out like tides, yet we are constantly being pulled back to the dance floor. Of the track the band  reflects, “Hydrostatic pressure is a journey into the depths of the ocean, capturing the energy from more boisterous live jams but also reflecting our home studio production sound.” Having met at music school,  Birdsnake formed when after class jams became a regular occurrence. This improvised and relaxed  sharing of ideas forms the basis of all of Birdsnake’s tracks, and the forthcoming album Biofilter builds on  this chemistry. Aquatic in theme and sounds, the new album aims to leave listeners feeling relaxed and 
energised in equal measures.

American producer James Cook has quietly built a reputation for unhurried yet deeply considered electronic music. First appearing on Greta Cottage Workshop back in 2013 with his debut CD album 'Sleep Deep, Mountain King' and later stepping out under his Black Point alias for two vinyl releases on Cologne’s revered Out To Lunch, Cook’s productions have always carried a sense of clarity and patience.

Long-time readers may remember that in July 2020 we published IA MIX 336 Black Point, a revealing mix and interview that offered insight into both his background in music and production techniques. That mix hinted at the directions he would later explore, and 'EP 2' issued through Tokyo-based @format-records (pronounced "format"), extends that trajectory - gathering fragments of the past decade into a finely detailed four tracker.
