Yet again, Aki and me made one "original" each, to South African poet LazarusMan, and this is my result.

The fact that Mirko Loko's released on labels like Cadenza, Desolat and Visionquest proves this is a guy packing serious talent. 

'Butterfly Effect' and 'Harder' are fine examples of his knack of producing the type of tracks that get you locked in for the entirety and his forthcoming 'Kolor' EP, again on Luciano's Cadenza, sees him deliver more cosmic and mesmerising power.

The three tracks for this EP are lovingly crafted using his collection of vintage drum machines, samplers and expansive modular setup, and are presented in both stereo and Dolby Atmos. Opener 'havin it' is quick-stepping, low slung house cut lit up with glistening chords and gorgeous soul samples that shine through next to low-key but euphoric 90s trance progressions. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside while remaining locked to the groove. 'lush' is just that, with summery harp strums shimmering across dusty and speedy deep house drums that sweep you up and fill your heart with hope and joy. It's a richly layered sound with a curiousness that truly enchants. Lastly, 'WNE' straightens your back with upright and snappy drums, woody percussion and frayed edged chords that have a cosy nostalgic glow. Coated in a lo-fi haze, plunging bass and aching vocal fragments pull you in different directions as you hurry to keep up with the frisky groove.

Thomas + James are a DJ & prodution duo from Glasgow’s West End. Growing up surrounded by electronic music, they began experimenting with production apps at just 10 years young and mixing on decks by 13. Clubbing in Glasgow has nurtured, shaped and matured their sound, with the backdrop of world renowned clubs like Sub Club, The Berkeley Suite and La Cheetah where they have flourished over a year long residency.

Following an introduction by a well known native, it was obvious the duo's sound was highly aligned with Verdant Recordings, fusing deep house, dub techno and minimal grooves. For  a teenage duo, their sound is refined, seasoned and well informed.

Insignia EP drifts between hazy dub techno textures and stripped-back deep minimal house with a 'wee hours' dance floor focus. Patiently arranged tracks swell with warm low-ends, atmospheric pads and precision tuned percussion. Ulf & Ralf revise the title track in their unique and unpredictable fashion for a gentler comedown.
