On Egypt Week III: Pollution in Egypt

As young kids, most of us were lucky to have our parents or grandparents tell us a bedtime stories. "Once upon a time,..." used to send us over the moon and back. Some of us hold these stories dear until now, and these stories could have deeper meanings that we haven't thought of. That's why I went to interview Dr. Affaf Tobbala, a professor at MSA and the well-known author of many children's books that are mostly inspired by the bedtime stories she told to her grandchildren.

I would like to thank her very much for such a great opportunities and for the little bedtime stories she told me after. (Dr. Tobbala is seen in the photo with school girls from one of her reading sessions to them.)

I would also like to thank my mum for putting up with my constant nagging for a bedtime story.

Once Upon A Bedtime Story Rough Cut

23 years old and I still call my mum sometimes before sleeping and ask her for one of her bedtimes stories. Being an adult (I hope) I use my right to demand for any story but Omena El-Ghola stories. She's a character that still gives me goosebumps. And not because of her name as much as what she does to kids. In my final project I finally got to know the origins of her myth and why she is so freakishly scary. 

My final piece also handles the kind of topics and messages we discuss with children in the bedtime stories we share with them. Also how these stories may change their lives and their perspective of the world around them.
