I’m extremely proud of this DJ set I’ve put together comprised of only mashups between the music of Sophie Xeon and Kristin Hayter (aka Lingua Ignota). Two of my favorite artists of all time across all mediums of art. I wanted to take Hayter’s operatic wails and screams across her several projects and put them over the staggering, pulsating, and sharp sounds of SOPHIE’s production.  To explore the deep emotion and tragedy of Hayter’s work on the dance floor, an interested I’ve had since my CLUB INFERNO EP. There are moments in this mix where you can hear Hayter’s character break down in tears and suddenly the experimental techno music underneath transitions almost as if changing the channel, not letting you look at that misery that’s still sitting there now invisible to you. The suffering that festers even without anyone to witness as we all dance. I also used the lyrics alongside the track list to kind of build a story through the sequencing. I also used this mix as an excuse to explore my interest in mixing noise music with the vocal ornamentation of tahrir. I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I do.
