Biography

​

since young I begin to learn piano & music theory at age 6, switched focus to composition at age 10. Born in 1991 Shanghai, composer weiwei xu ​touches on different aspects in composition. recorded sound from the workers on street, improvisation on her midi keyboard, and sketching out innovative structure for her acoustic composition, think within and beyond the norms - rationality, sensitiveness, fragility, spontaneousness, and indeterminacy defines her color enigma in the process of composing. as a young composer, what is left for her to question is the rich sound world in her life. multi-linguistic experience pushes her to define from piece to piece.

for composition she uses professional software like Finale, Ableton Live, Reaper and Audition. she also studied Csound and MaxMSP during her bachelor years in computer and music production in courses. 

​

her important teachers in composition are Peter Ivan Edwards, Klaus Lang and Beat Furrer.

​

aside from composing, she plays the piano and like to watch manga-anime and play game. in 2022 she was the project manager (music art) at the Shanghai West Bund Museum, as well as working in freelance base as editor for public new media journal in Blue Note Shanghai & SMG - Classical 947. She is currently back in hometown and founded x.sounding - a new music sound creative  team online. please visit xsounding.com for detail.
