LA-based producer, @DUCKY, releases her three-track EP, 'Lost Angeles', today on NEST.

Since her early teenage years, DUCKY has been fully immersed in club culture. She worked the door and started off her DJ career in San Francisco with the help of a fake ID before dropping out of high school at 17 and heading to NYU where she continued working on her own music. Over the last few years, she’s built a catalog of original works and remixes which mirror her influences in grime, techno, experimental, ambient, footwork and more, with her original productions often featuring her own distinct vocals.

This year, following a move to LA and a recent EP release through Parisian imprint B.YRSLF DIVISION, DUCKY continues to shape her sound with a new EP on NEST. The upcoming three-track Lost Angeles pack is a scenic stroll through winding four-four environments, opening with a hazy title track, followed by the drizzly and hypnotic "Rain Dance", and eventually landing at the crisp foothills of “Winter Song” — a track whose expressive aesthetic could easily fit within the setlists of artists like Jamie xx and Four Tet.

When we approached Walker & Royce to make an album in 2016, we knew the guys were pioneering a new sound and thought they would make a timeless album traversing genres and moods.   Needless to say, “Self Help” blew away our expectations, hitting #1 on multiple charts and leading them on a sold-out tour that’s still going a year later. 

It’s impossible to change perfection, but the album was still ripe for some new interpretations from some close Dirtybird family and friends.  John Tejada re-appears after his first appearance on DB003 in 2005 with his remix and dub of “My Own Thang”, taking a stripped back approach with punchy drums and tweaked synths. Justin Martin & Ardalan team up for their take on “Can You Pass That”, with new drums and dramatic risers. Justin Jay surprises everyone with his deeper SoCal version of “Take Me To Your Leader”. J.Phlip is back with her acid lover’s remix of “Rub A Dub” feat. Green Velvet. Walker & Royce deliver their own rework of “Role Models” for their sets, and up and coming producer Franklyn Watts beefs up the bass on “Love and Marriage.” 

Overall, this package is loaded with great versions of W&Rs “Self Help,” so do yourself a solid and help yourself.

A-Trak teamed up with New York house legend Todd Terry for the single “DJs Gotta Dance More”: an ode to record-digging and bedroom beatmaking, driven by the OG’s gravelly voice. For the second of two lovingly curated remixes, French dance legends Cassius come in screaming with their sample-laden “Burnin’ Mix,” digging in the crates for a nine-minute dancefloor epic that’s already feeling like a modern classic.
