C-Heads Magazine Guest Mix

Back in 2011 BLKKMORRIS and I created a weekly invite only event where we could play everything we were into regardless of genre. It was our hope to create a room filled with good vibes and good taste, connecting with our friends built around our love for music and ideas. VAVLT ran for a successful 18 months, spawned numerous mixtapes and acted as a platform for upcoming acts like HYDRABADD, NEVR, and Respire before closing down while I went on the road. I believe its necessary to have a night in Atlanta thats focused on curating the next talent, develop new trends and most importantly: dance.

VAVLT returns in 2015 at Music Room with an exclusive 5 Hour set by the original VAVLT BOYZ: HXV and BLKKMORRIS.

"We're super perfectionists with our mixes, and really wanted to create an experience, a roller coaster of emotions through out the 1-hour mix. It starts around 100BPM to get you dancing and builds in energy to 104... Then halfway through it drops to 75 to give you a break and hit you with some half time, feel good jams. From there, it builds all the way to the epic finish at 120BPM. We have a lot of our own music in here but this mix has a lot of influences- - a lot of Litefeet from New York, hyphy from the Bay, some New Orleans bounce, Chicago bop music, and LA beat scene. We also incorporated various forms of bass music and trap but did it in our own way. That stuff is typically a lot slower so we sometimes sped em up 30-40 BPM, or pitched it up, or mashed it up with a rap a cappella, making it sound like a totally different song, even a new genre." -- Casper & B.

Meet Bames: two Texans barely out of their teens, BBQing beat symphonies out of clattering percussion, drunken laser synths, and genuinely disrespectful levels of low-end whomp. DRTY BWTY is their beast of a debut EP, a six track mission statement as joyous as it is grimy, already supported by bass kingpins like Gaslamp Killer and Daedalus. Anthems "Chrome Eagle" and "Ozone" prove that Bames can trap it out with the best of the best, yet the boys' psychedelic bump is far funkier and headier than any of their hi-hat wielding contemporaries. What do you even call the space age twerk of "Fine Lines" and the title track? Half-time dance music? Freaked out hip-hop? Promethazine armadillo jams? Bames have twisted our minds and our asses into pretzels... now it's your turn.
