"Pretend an Interest" is taken from the book The Soft Machine by William S. Burroughs. The title The Soft Machine is a name for the human body, and the main theme of the book concerns how control mechanisms invade the body.

This collection celebrates a musical period full of curiosity, exploration, and anticipation. I moved to Seattle, WA less than a month after this recording was made.

Originally titled, "adelay", the initial tracking for this piece took place in September 2008 at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, MI. Guitar and bass layering was spread out over the course of six years from 2008-2014 in Seattle, WA. The final master was finished on April 5, 2020 in San Diego, CA while in quarantine from COVID-19.

Nestoria is the long-standing creative project of Rob Piotrowski. Compositions focus on texture and unexpected departures while maintaining a strong melodic current, following the likes of Sigur Ros, John Frusciante, Brian Eno's ambient period, and Sonic Youth.
