It is said that in the deepest layers of the subterranea, biology has no place… the complex mechanisms of old evolved relentlessly in ever-spiraling complexity, drawing their energy from the eternal thermal vents of the Worldcore. Mechanical beings woven within a delicate web of survival, spun into life from the sprawling hierarchical mechanism of the planet itself. EATBRAIN presents rapidly rising Ukrainian producer NICKBEE with his GEARS EP, also featuring the eerie and alluring vocals of JOANNA SYZE. With these 4 delicately balanced and keenly crafted slices of neurofunk, Nickbee displays a refined sense of structure and minimalism, whilst delivering a powerful vibe for the dance. Half of the EP drips with dystopian spirit, bristling with razor sharp edges softened in NOWHERE TO RUN and WE FIGHT by Syze’s ethereal and alien voice. The pods stood starkly in the shadows, the outline of each distinct against the insidious green glow of the harvesting chamber, where the evolved one endlessly milked the essence of these bleak-fated souls. Within each synthetic husk the occupants writhed in dark pleasure, far beyond the bounds of morality, twisting their bodies and riding the ecstasy of their unrestrained minds. The bio-integrated neurotechnology affixed to each skull delivered an endless stream of visceral stimulants, bypassing the conscious mind and manipulating the subconscious directly. Each brain mass swelled with the constant input, pushing against their very skulls as the physical limits of bone matter threatened the intensity of a stroke. Their pulsating craniums signified their readiness for the harvest, their ripeness for the primary czar… a soul stretched to its limits, drenched in the decadence of its capacity… fit to burst from its flimsy biocarcass. In readiness the first pod glided smoothly across the chamber, birthing its inhabitant into the overlord’s grasp as he prepared to extract her essence.

Russian neurofunk heavyweight MIZO brings his unique breed of darkness to the EATBRAIN fold with the SOUL REAPER EP in all of its ill-grained glory. A distinct figure in the Russian drum & bass scene who has also been known as a member of Gydra, the Soul Reaper EP sees Mizo returning to Eatbrain following a long period since his ruthless 'Bad Omen' collaboration with Teddy Killerz as Mizo and the 'Psycho' EP as part of Gydra. Through the five tracks contained within, Mizo delivers his unique take on d&b, delivering 5 tracks of powerful solo material that smacks of the label's breed of premiere neurofunk and incorporating Eatbrain veteran MC COPPA. Title track SOUL REAPER delivers the kind of orchestral epicness that the Eastern scene favours, giving way to a mean, brutal assault or truly sinister proportions. With bouncy but pointed sci-fi steppers such as UNREALITY and SINK (feat. Coppa), as well as the rich synthetic grandness of EXIST’s aesthetic and the hard-hitting grinder MONTAGE – this is an EP that delivers all of the intensely dark meat that Eatbrain fans could possibly want.

The valley was a lush place, with flora and fauna of all types contained between its mountainous peaks. This way it had been for ages untold, and those who lived there wanted for not in their idyllic existence. Untouched they were by the world, hidden away in a pocket of paradise unknown to all others. Indeed, theirs was a blessed existence, but such gifts were a treasure that could not go unnoticed by all. On that fateful day, a shadow had passed the sun, and it was in the duration of this mid-day’s night that from high upon the mountain a thunderous roar did erupt. On a cold frigid wind came a new beast to the valley, with scales that glittered white as fresh fallen snow. Reptilian as it seemed, upon vermillion wings did it soar, and from its breath came the fury of deep winter’s hoar. It withered the forests that those who lived there called home, and those caught in its wake were frozen to the bone. Not even stone could stand against the great being’s wrath, and reduced to foundations were all buildings in its path. From within these ruins it plundered an invaluable hoard, taking the treasure of the valley’s great lord. With one final roar the beast then took to the skies, returning to the mountain from whence it came on high. Down below lay the valley, its inhabitants frozen firm, in fear under the shadow of that great ICY WYRM.

MIZO returns to EATBRAIN to debut his latest EP, which follows in the destructive wake of his Dust Devil EP on the label as well as further recent releases on labels including Neuropunk Records & C4C Recordings. Filled to the brim with the producer’s characteristic ferocious tones, the EP features a set of four tracks surging with serpentine basslines and deviously distorted sonics as MIZO leads the latest onslaught of the EATBRAIN horde from atop the eponymous ICY WYRM.

PSYNCHRO is the latest project to emerge from the fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE, the series of releases by NEUROPUNK RECORDS that places sole focus on some of the hottest up and coming names in neurofunk. A trio composed of members Noxen, Deontriq and Cooper, PSYNCHRO’s recent meteoric rise has seen their releases rocket to labels including RAM Records, Eatbrain, Cyberfunk, and more. Now, the trio bring their latest single release, SIGNAL//BEFORE THE DOOM to NEUROPUNK RECORDS as they add their sonic style the inferno of the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

SIGNAL opens the release with cinematic flair as its glassy pads drift over the bellowing blasts of a synthesized horn. As the track progresses the horn warps and distorts further and further, transforming into the track’s monolithic bassline amidst the electrical pulses of it’s titular transmitted signal. Following this, PSYNCHRO join forces with IMPLECT for BEFORE THE DOOM, a track that exemplifies its ominous name with the minor chords of its airy synth providing a prelude to the cataclysmic mix of percussion and low frequencies contained within.

With SIGNAL//BEFORE THE DOOM, the fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE are wielded by PSYNCHRO to forge a sharply honed single release bristling with explosive sonic energy. The latest in a series of such releases from the trio, SIGNAL//BEFORE THE DOOM finds a ready place in the armory of NEUROPUNK RECORDS alongside the sonic weapons of the label’s many champions.
