Dark Mornings

Working title - peeling my skin. I wrote this during a particularly tumultuous period of a "career redirection" - during this time i was reading a lot of material predicting an armageddon like scenario occurring in our lifetime due to the current and silent issue of exponential overpopulation. 

Faust is the protagonist of a tragedy written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1808 - the name itself is now a reference to an individual making a deal with the devil. I wrote this in the thought that one day someone will inevitably make a "Faustian Bargain" to deal with the issue of overpopulation... if it hasn't already happened.

The thinking behind this track is a continuation of the "boiled frogs" analogy. As time goes many of us don't realise we are becoming comfortable with increasing overheads of tension, anxiety or depression. We all paint a picture of paradise, and try not to think about what is growing beneath the cracks of the picturesque scenery. This track explores consciously celebrating and participating in our "tension paradise" - directing attention to it - accepting it and learning to live with it's beauties and dangers.

This song represents the start of the sound I want to cultivate. I would personally describe it as post hardcore and shoegaze guitar mixed with modern industrial EDM and other darker EDM genres. If you like it, and want to hear more in this vein - drop a comment - I would love your support.

The theme for this track is ego. More specifically a malignant ego that has been allowed to run rampant in ones life without any scrutiny. For some, ego is an all-powerful beast that has torn out their eyes and buried them in the dirt. They now live in it's lair, in darkness and pain, believing that this monster will protect them from the world outside.

Luciform: of, relating to, or having the characteristics of light : luminous. 

Despite the definition pointing toward themes of a pleasant nature, this is one of the darker and heavier tracks from the album. It aims to ask the question - what happens when one finally gives in to the desire to do wrong? If we drop resistance and obey the devil on our shoulder, what happens? Can we return to the light, or does the door close behind us?
