hello, I am Neutron - not your average kid 
if you’re asking - acting as if you did
here’s the answer - a lot is happening in
this far away galaxy that I live in
times are hard but I’ll manage it with
a few close friends we are family - yeah
and I’m sure that you can understand this
if you could only imagine
see
we evolved from human beings
you can find them in museums
such an interesting species
from the planet earth indeed but
that was thousands of years ago 
we’ve traveled to the deepest
depths of outer space 
and met alien peoples
and a lot can happen out there
in that final frontier such as
enhanced abilities
strength agility and genius
sometimes it feels as if we were
just another experiment
set loose to spread through 
the universe as needed
like 
to this distant rock atmosphere sparse water scarce 
for as far as the eye can see the landscape is bare
on the horizon a small colony of engineers
originally sent to research solar flares
but electromagnetic radiation created there
was affecting everybody in ways they weren’t prepared for
appeared just a rare occurrence at first 
something is in the air
and now those who want that power 
are coming from everywhere

Neutron Sol
chapter 1 - Just One Of Those Days

——
 
just one of those days 
when nothing goes right
from the moment you wake up
yelled at for like
half an hour to take
the trash out then shower eat breakfast 
and not be late 
had a rough night
already anyway
so of course I was late 
and there’s nowhere to hide
so the hall monitor saw when I tried
to slide right by
he knows me by name
a real stand up guy
but not the brightest bulb in the grid
so I smiled 
while using the power of suggestion
to convince him of when I’d arrived 
if only I’d known that Principal Syntax
had appeared and now stood by my side 
I wouldn’t have been so careless about using powers when that’s not allowed 
now my chip’s really fried

just one of those days

just one of those days
lessons and lectures about legislation 
too much information 
it gets in the way of us actually learning
but sure we’re just lazy
that’s what they all say
but some say that they just want to test us to see what we’re made of
whatever that means 
however you take it
all that I know is there was a pop quiz
and when time had been called I had one space missed
so I concentrated
and marked it with my mind 
too easy to not get away with
unfortunately it triggered a failsafe
and the whole class’ score was erased
everyone knew who to blame
you already know my name
and this is just one of those days

can’t wait until it is over 
so that I can go with Humana and Can to a place 
later on to secretly train and build up our strength
those are my thoughts as I stare into space
so deep in the zone 
begin to notice my eyes now focus
many times more than before
and faintly I hear my name
suddenly I make out the shape of someone exiting a ship at a distant facility
apparently without a face
but an identity all the same 
read the tag on her uniform 
Dr Celesté 
and I cannot shake it 
until Principal Syntax yells 
that he’s giving me detention
for not paying attention
okay

that never ends
thanks to recent changes
we stay at our centers
for extended
sessions isn’t it strange?
such strict supervision
more than we used to have
thanks to 
events taking place 
rumors of dangerous children 
playing games 
powers could not be contained
the council came 
to a conclusion and gave 
an ultimatum
they wanted access to
brain waves and heart rates 
and demand that we obey
all of the rules and the laws that they have laid
but this isn’t okay
because it makes us afraid to be who we are 
so we must find a way to escape

chapter 2 - Detention

she walks into the room
totally unexpected
and looks at us like she assumes
that we will simply stop what we’re doing
to pay her attention 
and everybody does me too 
so let’s hear what she’s got to say 
by the way I might ask her a couple of questions
like who 
sent her here and why now during detention 
something tells me that she might not tell the whole truth

hello
my name is Professor Doors
and I will be here with you for
a few cycles or more
while Principal Syntax 
explores other worlds

she abruptly stops
stares me straight in the eyes
then walks
away but I’m caught
by the nagging thought 
that I’ve already seen her before 
but her face is unfamiliar 
is it not?

faintly I hear my name 
back to reality again
detention continues
and everyone carries on like things are the same
but where did my interview go?
it is as if she came
and went 
in a flash
like wait
did this really happen?
“hey”
I whisper to the kid in the next seat
“what was the deal with that lady
Doors was her name?”

he turns and looks to me blankly
then blatantly blurts out “I don’t know, maybe”
and of course I expect Principal Syntax to be right there to discipline me for talking but he’s not

Neutron 
I just got a call from the center
something about you trying to enter
answers after being told by your mentor
that time was up now all the test scores are messed up
take some responsibility boy ‘fess up
they say you’ve been using your powers against the
rules and regulations that have been setup
in such a way to keep us safe and defend us
you better show some respect
get yourself in check
for your own good kid
and protect your neck
because we know that they’re watching our every step
now you’re calling attention creating a threat
our family’s reputation will be wrecked 
while you and your friends sneak off behind my back
look I don’t really need this stress

and as a matter of fact
