With this Traumcast we would like to introduce @MiaLunis, a talented artist from Sao Paulo, Brazil and curator for Planet Ibiza. We where looking forward to host her this past summer at Bucht der Träumer* festival if things had played out differently, as we all know.

🏁Mia, You have spent most of the pandemic age in your city in Sao Paulo - how is the nightlife situation? Are clubs or festivals slowly coming back? 

🐬 I have been isolated since the pandemic started and here in Brazil we felt an huge impact on the events and night life, everything has stoped, no parties, no festivals and now some clubs are restarting but in a completely different way, most of them are opening as restaurants with limited capacity during the day time. Has been a little weird to see all this and it’s hard to get used to it, but I’m glad that we are finally seeing a silver lining after all. I don’t know when it will be possible to gathering again in festivals or parties as we used to have.

🏁How would you describe the scene that let you find your way into electronic music? 

🐬 The electronic scene has been my mothership since 2014, when we decide to embrace new challenges everything can be a little bit hard at the beginning, but I have been founding love and support in everywhere I go, ofcourse things has changed and I’m still hoping to be able to connect with this true spirit rooted on the passion for the things that this scene have been creating by far. Here the scene is divided in organic house and techno… there’s nothing in between, years ago the only way possible to vibe on parties was going to expensive clubs and with no possibility to have an opportunity to maybe play at this venues… then in 2009 vodoohop started a huge movement with street parties, warehouses and all the kind of improvised places to connect new artists that would never had a chance to show their art if it wasn’t for this movement…. Then a lot of new projects started to rise, I managed to create my own alongside with my friends at that time called Sonido Trópico. Vodoohop brought their references from Berlin to São Paulo since they started this moviment here so since then we have in Berlin a huge base for our references when it comes to music, I think that’s also why we are always on this great collab between this 2 great cities which for me are the mothership of electronic music nowadays for me.

🏁 How would you like your music to affect the people around you?

🐬 I hope that my music can bring somehow some sort of hope and joy while my audience is listening, the only way possible to keep connected with them now it’s creating this set journeys from my place and I hope they manage to dance a bit and manage to go through this tough period. 

 What is your biggest hopes for the time ahead of us?
my biggest hope it’s to be able to see my friends to get through all this with health, mind clear, recovered and ready to restart again.

Mia Lunis - Traumcast #26

Sobek is the Khemitian crocodile master of strength, extreme power, Nile River, water, warfare, strategy, fertility and protection. His strength quickly led him to the position of head of ancient Khemit armies, making him the protector of the Rulers of Khemit.

Sobek was represented as either a giant crocodile or as a man with a muscular human body and a crocodile head. Sobek often wears a crown that Ra - The Light - gave him after he had achieved many military conquests.

In ancient Khemit, Sobek was to be responsible for the flooding of the Nile. This belief was based on the idea that the crocodile, as a marine animal, had the ability to plunge into the Nile, strong enough to cause flooding over its entire length.

Sobek was the master of the Nile who brought fertility to the land. As the “Lord of the Waters” he was thought to have risen from the primeval waters of Nun to create the world and made the Nile from his sweat.

Sobek is known to give martial training that the crocodile Master gave to young Horus. It is believed that this martial training had been quite effective, as Horus became an adult and defeated Darkness after all.

The strength, speed and ferocity of the crocodile was thought to be symbolic of the power of the Ruler of ancient Khemit. He was also one of ancient Khemit's doctor master. A sick person would go to his temple at Kom Ombo, located 30 miles North of Aswan, seeking healing.

This temple was once the sanctuary for a large number of crocodiles, and the center of Sobek’s followers. The temple features unique characteristics like the “twin design” as the southern hall was dedicated to Sobek and the northern hall of the temple was dedicated to the falcon god Haroeris. This separation is even more atypical when you take the perfect symmetry a long the main axis in consideration. Both parts of the temple have its own entrance, halls, and chapels. Walls in one section of the temples are decorated with the images of surgical instruments. The images of scalpels, pincers, forceps, and other medical tools show that the ancient Khemitians were skilled medical professionals.

Excavations of crocodile sarcophagi and mummies are not uncommon from the surrounding area. Step back in time as you walk the path of those ancient Khemitains who appreciated and feared the crocodile in honor of the crocodile Master, Sobek.

We're happy to welcome our next discovery to the Schirmchendirnk family, South African producer and DJ Jason Scoble. He likes his Gin with blue Tonic - and he included tons of own productions in this delicious episode!

Jason Scoble is a South African deep and electronic house music composer, Dj, sound production engineer, and label boss with groovy beats, passionate vocals, and synthy melodies. He writes music from a technical and personal perspective, crafting each song as a uniquely progressive story being told. Jason is a sound production engineer by profession and strives for quality in all his productions. He has established his own record label "Modern Africa Recordings" which he releases his music under. Always experimenting with different sounds, capturing simplicity, and exploring the boundaries of creativity, his versatility continues to blossom within the electronic music scene.

The Turk has carved his own path, releasing sensational cross-cultural sounds on the likes of Tale & Tone, Amulanga, and Hoomidas. The XYZ faithful will have grown fond of Erdi’s work on the imprint thus far, appearing on each of our Oppo projects and recently released 'Driftwood' along with a set of remixes.
