"I guess this whole track lyrically was based around the line 'I'm not your bleach'. It was something someone said to me once about me being their bleach which got to me... I'll leave it open as to what its about, I never like telling anyone what the songs are about (it's not about cleaning). Musically it all started from a vocal sample we were playing with on a Kg sampler I've got over the top of the drum beat. 
We recorded this quite a long time ago now but this is definitely still one of our faves to play live."

FRETT - Bleach

"A woman, early 20s, ambitious, goes to NYC to make it, gets wrecked by the city and carted back home by her folks to recover where she grew up, near the ocean.  The song is narrated by a boy she grew up with who's always been in love with her. He sort of puppy dogs after her on the beach, and she tolerates him but never really sees him.

All the lyrics basically come from this. "Your face in shadow, then your face in light" is the highway headlights washing over her face in the backseat on the way home, for example. It's my favorite kind of song to write, when it happens, because it accesses things I need to say without being directly about me at all. They come when they feel like it, though."

Wilder Maker - Slow Life

Josh from Tapes 'n Tapes has been a bit busy while the band take a break from recording and touring. He's been writing and recording new music with Tapes' drummer, Jeremy Hanson to create new project Ginkgo.  Ginkgo's debut album, 'Manopause' was released last week on Tapes' very own Ibid Records.

Ginkgo's a beautiful, noisy, sunny and spectral mess of awesome. Josh told Rolling Stone "This is the first single from my debut solo record. The chaos of that driving, disintegrating rhythm is perfect for the 'going out in a blaze of glory' theme of the song."
