After the songs were written (in short bursts over the last few years) Closer To The Clouds was recorded primarily at The Wormhole studio in Boise, Idaho in 2 sessions wrapping up at the end of 2016.

With co-producer Cary Judd and Mark playing nearly every instrument on the EP, finding the right sounds was an exercise in discovering what Mark was hearing in his mind. 

The results are fresh but familiar, with the pair using multiple guitars, piano, drums, banjo, Mark’s voice, and his trademark mouth trombone to craft the textures for each song.
