The Unchained pilgrimage through the world of mutant bass takes us to our thirty-second release as we again celebrate the lunar calendar with our third annual compilation, the “ Year of The Tiger.” In keeping with our other various artist releases we center around some of our core ideals -  diversity, experimentation in bass, and the clubbing experience. 

A collection of 12 tracks, this album represents a bit more of the rowdier end of our repertoire with off-kilter D’n’B bangers, foot-work grooved club tunes, swaggering halftime, grime and a bit of dark jungle tekno for seasoning.

Alongside leading and emerging talent from the UK and Europe, we are proud to feature a solid Asian representation this year, including artists from Hong Kong, China, India and Japan.

The phrase “FOOTMAHI” was first brought to light by BFC founding member MUSHMANE of Tainui.

The story goes that the BFC were huddled up drinking a communal slab of 8% Cody’s on a bitterly cold Ōtautahi winters afternoon watching a young in-form Shaun Johnson absolutely tear the Sydney Roosters defence to shreds with his electric “footwork” - when Mushmane screamed out “LOOK AT THE FOOTMAHI” changing the course of BFC history forever all in the birthplace of The Big Fresh Collective; The Parage on 40A Richill Street, Belfast, Ōtautahi.

The Journey of Footmahi has taken us all over AOTEAROA working with & entertaining people from all walks of life that we are proud to call our Whānau ❤️‍🔥

Following the recent release of Vitaline’s single "Hoover Hangover", it's now the turn of young Parisian DJ-producer Galgish to contribute to the new series of singles coming out on [re]sources. At just 23 years old, Galgish confirms his status as an artist to watch with "Check", a dubstep track heavily inspired by the new wave led by artists like Hamdi and Cesco. A deep and simple rhythm, a strange waltz of basslines, a few dry vocal chops for groove—all held together by a continuous sub from start to finish. "Check" is a journey into the depths of riddim.

Nevermind is a producer from Nelson, Aotearoa, whose music experiments with dense textures, collapsing rhythms and glitched emotion. They fuse breakbeat, dubstep, bass, and techno into an “anti-model” sound.

Raised on underground frequencies, Nevermind has played culture-forward clubs and underground outdoor parties across Aotearoa, the U.S., and France. In these liminal spaces, they've found an undercurrent of people hungry for unfamiliar music.

Nevermind is a regular at parties in the deep south of New Zealand (Such as Dunedin Winter Solstice, Discotech, Soundation and more), and recently started Ōtepoti Underground; documenting the underground seen in Otago, NZ.
