New Subjects is band from Essex, UK. The band is composed by: John Thorpe (Guitar & vocals), Ben Maskell (Piano), Simon Hills (Bass), Adam Maskell (Lead Guitar), and Tom Ratcliff (Drums). It was initially founded in 2011; however, the band faced a period of inactivity due former members leaving for other commitments. After over 18 months out, New Subjects is back on the scene with a new sound and style. Despite the 'Indie Electro' vibe, New Subjects likes to categorise their genre as a "new sound" - and their first EP aims to capture this.
The Band is inspired by a bands/singers such as The Doves, Stone Roses, Bob Dylan, Oasis, Muse, Radio Head with a hint of a classical taste.
The band members' ages range from mid-twenties to early-thirties. Their first EP was launched on the 30th of May at Chinnerys in Southend-on-Sea and can be checked under the relevant links below. With its growing popularity, especially in Southend, New Subjects are looking forward to playing at quite a few summer festivals in the Essex area.
