Every time a new group of guardians is introduced, their transformation themes get cooler and cooler. It's like they're trying to one-up each other. Either way, it's great! 2014.

Star Power Make-Up! 8bit (Sailor Moon StarS)

NiGHTS is one of those games that was one of a kind when it came out, and there hasn't been a game like it since. The music is super nice and very much of the era, and I love this calming little track. Also, if you layer enough noise tracks with a significant attack delay and release, it sounds like the ocean... 2014. 

Gate of Your Dream 8bit (NiGHTS Into Dreams)

I just got the ToS soundtrack, it's super nice! All the character themes are very fitting and pleasant. Lloyd is our resident teenage hero, complete with his JRPG compliant uniform. Buttons ahoy! 2014.

These are short tracks, so they're quick to churn out. Genis, the resident magic guy. In the original Japanese, he's named "Genius"--a little transparent. Oh well! 2014.

Raine's original name is "Refill", which is even MORE transparent than "Genius"--she's the only one who can be a consistent healer. This is her standard theme, not her "relic mode" theme (when she gets excited and rips open her robe to reveal an "I <3 ARCHEOLOGY" shirt). Professor Mom! 2014.

Sheena could be my favorite--I play as her while my S.O. plays as Lloyd. Her theme is so hip too, I think I captured it okay. Summoner from a ninja village, she's tough and cool, kool n' tuff. 2014.

There's a knee-jerk reaction that causes me to outburst some curse every time I see this guy. Zelos has been pretty much a rockstar since birth, and he's a huge playboy--although the more you play, the more you get the feeling that it's just a front, and he knows more than he ever lets on.  2014.

Most everyone's character theme is pretty cheery, but here's a theme that really encompasses the feeling of the game from time to time. Things get really bleak, and Presea probably has the worst time out of everyone (besides maybe Colette). 2014.

The last of the series (at least for now)! This track has a lovely film noir feel to it--although the drum track is a little jarring. I did my own kicks to it in an attempt for everything to sound a little more uniform. We equipped Regal with at least three pairs of boots. 2014.

This goes up 10 minutes before Smash Wii U releases. I wanted to do something special, and so this is a short medley of all four menu/character select themes. I'm so exhausted... 2014.

This was for Sonic Secret Santa 2014, a little medley of the Sonic 4 Metal Sonic theme and Stardust Speedway. 2014.

Metal Sonic/Stardust Speedway Bad Future US 8bit (for armouredswampert)

First track of the year! This game is everything you need from a Kirby game--adorable enemies, bright shiny backgrounds, giant swords, an interdimensional space god, four headed dragons, King Dedede is there...I always play as bandana Waddle-Dee. This song is from probably the most stressful part of most stages! 2015.

Looming Darkness 8bit(Kirby's Return to Dreamland)

More Symphonia music. I could probably do this whole soundtrack if it weren't four discs and five hours long. This track reminds me of the Plains of Time track from Chrono Cross, it has a soothing, earthy quality to it that I love. 2015.

Dry Trail ~ Fooji Mountains 8bit (Tales of Symphonia)

The Sonic Adventure soundtrack has such great atmosphere in it, so much that it's hard to compress into a small package. Also experimented with high positive sweep switch on the triangle wave. A good time! 2015.

COMMISSION: Theme of Tikal 8bit (Sonic Adventure)

Finally upgraded my account here, ha! This is more of a reimagining of this track, as it's not exact. It's very spacey and I did what I could. This track gives me so much nostalgia. 2015.

Summer Forest 8bit (Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage)

In light of recent events, I thought I would pay tribute to the fantastic mind behind this series. It's lacking some of the slight tempo changes, but it's pretty blistering anyway. Please check out the chorus especially, I'm super proud of that drum beat. RIP Monty Oum. 2015.

Time To Say Goodbye 8bit (RWBY)

This one was a bit tricky to recreate, as there's a lot of melody lines that just sorta unison together. I've wanted to do this one for some time now, though. The time trial for this stage is brutal however...still, I think I have all A's on this one except for hard mode. 2015.

Unstable World...for Crazy Gadget 8bit (Sonic Adventure 2)

It's about time that I've done a Fleetwood Mac tune. This one always reminds me of a 50's soda shop, crooning over a chocolate milk shake wearing a poodle skirt. I've been listening to this whole album a lot since it reminds me of summer, and I desperately want warm weather. 2015.

I never play at 8 in the morning, but this song is really lovely. An incorporation of the main theme in my favorite key with some nice suspended chords and major 7ths? Count me in. 2015.

8 AM 8bit (Animal Crossing New Leaf)

I haven't actually played this game, but I have played Black Knight, which is another one from the storybook series. I wonder if they'll make anymore of these? The stories to them were always cool, even if the gameplay was a little lackluster/frustrating. I also really like Steve Conte's work, even if he sounds really raspy here. 2015.

Seven Rings In Hand 8bit(Sonic and the Secret Rings)

I was listening to some NES Final Fantasy and wanted to something inspired by the really limited palette. I managed to keep it down to three tracks, and considering my S.O. commented that it sounded like he was "playing Final Fantasy I again", I think I did my job. 2015.

Champion Alder 8bit (Pokemon Black/White)

The new Passion Pit album drops next Tuesday, and I'm really digging the singles off it. Also grabbed some Mario Paint samples for a little extra pizazz. 2015.

Lifted Up (1985) 8bit (Passion Pit)

My ear has been bothering me for the last week and a half, but now that it's all better, here's another track! This one was difficult because of the speed. I feel like the endings for this anime get a lot of attention, but what about the openings? They're like 00's shounen openings and make me want to FIGHT. 2015.

Rage On / Dried Up Youthful Fame 8bit (Free!)

I started playing Dawn of a New World, the ToS sequel recently, and we just spent a lot of time in this area. It's so nice revisiting everything, even though our protagonist could be a little more gung-ho about this adventure. 2015.

City of Wind and Ruin ~ Asgard 8bit (Tales of Symphonia)

This was a lot of fun to do, and a very cute song! I got to use some Mario Paint samples once again, see if you can spot them. KPP is adorable and we should all aspire to be as great as her. 2015.

COMMISSION: Ninja RE Bang Bang (Kyary Pamyu Pamyu)

I return from a small hiatus! I was managing an ice cream store for a while, and I didn't have much time for the creation of much of anything. But, I return with a new track! I heard this song in an art stream, and it's been stuck in my head ever since. It's simple, but it's actually a lot more dense than I expected it to be. 2015.

Closer Than This 8bit (St. Lucia)

I haven't actually played this game, a friend of mine recommended the soundtrack to me though and I got attached to this opening song. This is a "TV size" version, but I'm just happy to get something finished. 2015.

TAO 8bit(Tales of Legendia)

Hey, maybe I can get back into the swing of things. I think I get even more inspired to create a stricter chiptune environment when it comes to Pokemon tracks, at least the ones from BW/BW2. I use the triangle wave, which wasn't present in the Game Boy, but otherwise it just uses 3 melody tracks and the drum track. I've always liked this music... 2015.

I started with some sus chord pads that I ripped from the Sword of Mana GBA rom and went from there on this one. I've never done trance before, or anything with a bass drop for that matter, so this was pretty fun! 2015.

The Price Of Freedom 8bit (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII)

It's a miracle that I haven't done this track yet, considering how much I adore this song. First time composing on my new computer, with a fresh new version of Garageband to accompany it. My pitch wheel works a lot better now. 2016.

Long time no see! Brand New's one of my fave bands, and I've been listening to this B-side a lot. I'm hoping they put out a new album out soon, with a few singles out this year! 2016.

Out Of Range 8bit (Brand New)

Long time no see! As it tends to be, the motivation to come back to chiptune usually stems from me wanting a new ringtone. This track has been probably…a year and a half in the making? I couldn't figure out the verse section, and it just came to me over an evening and a drink. Nice! I love Abyss so much, and this opening song especially. 2017.

Karma 8bit (Tales of the Abyss)

I love the progression in this track--the contrast between the verse and the chorus is really satisfying. A simple, anthem-y tune, but fun to do nonetheless. 2017.
