"I have wanted to write a Christmas song for many years and I am so happy that I have finally got one together. Inspired by all of the great things I love about songs for Christmas; it has to be a bit cheesy, lots of fun, emotional, nostalgic and a total ear worm. I have wrapped the chorus around a simple narrative of love and family and friends enjoying a good time. I wanted this to be something you can easily pick up and sing along to with friends. A deep dive into my favourite pop/punk albums from my youth inspired me to revisit this and make it into the song I always knew it could be. “I was inspired by indie pop for this song, which is about moving on, getting back to yourself and reflecting on how far you have come. Life is full of moments and when you are in them those moments might not be so great in hindsight or those terrible moments might be the best thing that ever happened; a complete turn in your life, the making of you. I took inspiration from “Down” by Blink-182 for the chorus. This came together quickly, one of those exciting projects that flows. Thank you for listening.”

“This is about a toxic relationship inspired by the music of Charlie Puth. The song came together after watching some music production tutorials online with Charlie Puth and I was inspired by my love of his CHARLIE album, which is now in my Top 5 albums of all time. I get inspired for the direction of a song by my initial idea and so for this I was thinking Charlie Puth, which had me think of the word ‘proof’ and then the direction of the song was there. The opening lyric came to me and with that I created a story of a toxic relationship. It all came very quickly, which is always exciting. Thank you.”

“I read that “Teenage Dirtbag” was recorded in a house basement. I was inspired. This song is a reflection of the excitement I got back in the day as a new young musician in a band where you had no budget, loaded in to a run down studio, pressed record and left the session hours later with a raw final mix on CD. It was amazing. I wanted to get back to that in sound and spirit and to capture it I used my fantastic rusty stringed, completely tuned by ear £65 Stratocaster copy with little post production editing or mixing. When tracking I had early Foo Fighters and “Clarity/Static Prevails” era Jimmy Eat World in mind. Like those early days this was written/recorded/mixed in a few hours. “college rock.” centres around a person finding solace in music and guitar and considers the decline of guitar in mainstream music today, is nostalgic about the impact of guitar bands and USA radio college Rock music in the 1990’s and simply gets back to that optimism of JUST ROCKING OUT.”

Lyrically this was the inspiration for ‘living perfectly.’; I wanted to contrast the raw Rock edge and Pop/Punk spirit of the music with a positive anthemic message. I hope you enjoy this one.”

“St. Anger is my favourite Metallica album. For this song I had so much fun being creative and leaning into the sound and spirit of that record. The lyrics are inspired by an experience I had following a caffeine detox; I accidentally ordered regular instead of decaf, which led to an afternoon of the shakes and shivers. st. caffeine = frantic.”

“Inspired by the Bieber SWAG record I wanted to revisit this anthem about mental health and create a new version. Due to my musical taste I added further instrumentation to the raw modern lo fi sound to build up texture and harmonic interest.”

“Taking inspiration from a footnote of an Oliver Sacks book, lyrically this explores the phenomenon of musical hallucinations. As I was piecing the lyrics together I quickly realised that in this “a brain storm” is a metaphor for a misunderstood, long term condition with varying degrees of ever changing intensity; Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome definitely inspired my lyric writing for this song (kindly follow the link to the HEDS society in my bio to learn more. Thank you). Leaning into the nostalgic live basement recording sounds of 1990’s alternative music there is definitely a Wheatus, Green Day, Third Eye Blind sound and it gets a little The Cure in places on this one. I also wanted the scrapbook sounds of “Save Rock and Roll” era Fall Out Boy. 

I revisited this as I wanted to cut a new vocal and when doing so I decided to explore a new mix - see what you think of this new version. Thank you.”

“One of our songs (my wife and I), which I played at our wedding. Inspiration to capture a lofi, raw track came from the new SWAG album by Justin Beiber; my wife showed me how the album was captured using an omni directional microphone and how this makes the sound of the record. I wanted to capture a raw emotional take so I used this microphone philosophy and set up 1 microphone in which to capture the room and the performance. The song has turned out great and I like the sincere charm to this recording.”

“This Halloween song is inspired by the hit album “Word Up” and the Ray Parker Jr hit single “Ghostbusters”. In the chorus I have gone with the word ‘candy’ as a tip of the hat to Cameo. My wife and our daughter sing on this, which is a joy. Happy Halloween.”

music fanatic. inspired songwriter and music producer. avid guitarist. enthusiastic mixer. 

I create for the pure joy of it and I love to include my Wife and Daughter in the music to capture a beautiful moment; a personal time capsule. Music is an expressive outlet for me and I write from the heart.

Close to my heart is raising awareness of the chronically painful genetic connective tissue disorder HEDS (Hyper-Mobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) to encourage recognition and a deeper understanding of the condition; that no two people with HEDS are identical and live with different symptoms, types and experiences.
