Screens and VR provide the illusion of escape, yet outside those simulations they feel like “nothing at all.” Neighbours vanish into silence, emotions are commodified, and human warmth has become a currency colder than gold. The chorus captures the paradox at the heart of this world: safety without belonging, freedom in name only. The whispered bridge deepens the unease, as the narrator admits they trade time for digital chains and live countless borrowed lives while feeling utterly alone. The song’s imagery of static, automation, and echo closes with a sense of being trapped in a perfectly engineered cage — a life protected, but profoundly empty.
