This is a quality she explores in her own sets, weaving together intricate, spiraling blends of IDM, techno and bass to create a dreamy, glistening tapestry of sound.

Caroune is a London-based DJ and the co-founder of Osmura record label, event and mix series.
From ambient/dub to deep techno and drum & bass, she blends the genres to create mystical journeys. For the past year Caroune has played at underground events in London and Paris. She hosted her first Osmura night in July 2024 at the Baths in Hackney where she played alongside international and local artists. This week, her label Osmura saw the release of its first various artists EP “Lucid Haze” comprising of dubby, organic and percussive sounds across six European artists.With dubby, bassy and tribal sounds, her cozy mix is an invitation to a meditative dance.

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?

I started dj’ing in 2022 right after covid. It came from the desire to share my music discoveries to a wider audience. I first started playing at friends’ parties and slowly moved to the club scene. My first gig was at Dalson Den last year. Shortly after I met Cosi at work and we decided to create ‘Osmura’ to be able to share our passion for music with others. We first started as a podcast channel and then turned into a night series and record label.

2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?

It was Agonis Live set at Monument festival this year. His mystical, hypnotic sound resonated so well in the Norwegian valley. You could imagine yourself surrounded by wolves and other mysterious creatures from the forest. It’s an experience that I will never forget, and which inspires me a lot.

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert in the scene?

I would say that I’m both an introvert and an extrovert. I love meeting people from the scene during events and festivals, I find everyone’s experience very inspiring. But sometimes I feel that I could be networking more, it doesn’t feel as natural to me as it is for other people :)

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?

‘I need Your Lovin’ (Like The Sunshine) Club Mix – Infectious!

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? Do you have any special remedies/ mental/physical prep/ places to go to? :)

When I prepare my music for a gig, I always try to imagine the space and the crowd. Playing music in a club is about communicating with people. I would often prepare a tracklist which I would adapt based on the mood and the audience.

The day of the gig, I would go for a morning run to release my stress and boost my confidence.

I first met Pjenne in the Bookar Crater at the inaugural Inner Varnika festival in 2017. Only moments after our introduction we were hugging and swaying together, to an unforgettable set by my brother Ben. Little did I know she had already played at the festival before I’de arrived and would soon become one of my favourite disk jockeys. 

Pjenne’s sets all manage to have a unique and alluring atmosphere, a vibe that permeates itself no matter the style or genre she’s exploring. Each set brings a sonic embrace, a warmth similar to that which I felt when we first met. 

This mix is no different, a certified classic of dubbed jams mined from the depths of ’89 to ’03. Please Enjoy!

THEATRE OF LIGHT is the latest project from Brussels-based artist Jean Grünewald (OTTOMAN GRÜW ; A BODY WITHOUT). Drawing inspiration from religious chants, resonant drones, and sacred spaces, THEATRE OF LIGHT is born from an impending feeling of doom and explores themes related to transcendence and personal mysticism - while combining ritual practice with vocal work, experimental ambient music and performance art.

The project's debut release follows an evocative, rare performance in the Chapel of Grand Hospice - a storied former medical institution in the heart of Brussels. The performance was recorded, meticulously edited, and reimagined into a singular release for the launch of THEATRE OF LIGHT. This is an open-hearted record, inviting listeners into a space of introspection, uncertainty, and the sublime - a live album bathing into light.

Jean Grünewald's influences for this project include the works of Eliane Radigue, Dome, Sunn O))), alongside the more ambient iterations of Coil and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
