Hailing from the vibrant musical scene of Brighton, New State Masses is the brainchild of Pete Harwood and Matt Parisi. With a core ethos rooted in the amalgamation of hope and disillusionment, their music marries classic indie vibes with nostalgic synth work, delivering brutally honest lyrics through big, soaring, vocals and hard hitting production.

New State Masses finds its origin in the ashes of the band The Recoil, where the two met. Despite signing a record deal in Los Angeles during the tumultuous late naughties, The Recoil eventually met its demise. Undeterred by past setbacks with labels and industry challenges, Pete and Matt continued to forge ahead.

Presently, New State Masses is on the brink of releasing their debut album, slated for late 2024. Recorded at The Agricultural Audio Studios with the expertise of Ben Hiller, who not only contributes to production but also adds his flair on bass and drums, the album promises to be a sonic journey inspired by their eclectic musical influences.
