Robin Tasi has carved out a recognisable sound which fuses breaks, electro and acid in a passionate and daring manner. His relentless approach to his production and DJ sets is almost an oxymoron to his laid-back and respective personality. This is perfectly highlighted by the mood of our relaxed chat compared to the intense hour of power which runs perfectly down the blurred line that exists between techno electro and breaks.

Although his sets often are a frantic and jagged ride across varied sonic territories, he is able to do so with such grace forming a connection with whoever who is listening. He admits that in a club environment he wants to offer the ultimate escapism to the crowd. In his local town of Dortmund, a city which promotes the grass root artists as appose to big lineups, he is able to do this.

We recently caught up with the Dortmund based artist to discuss the differences between Dortmund and Berlin, his label Acid Wave Records and his hectic schedule since the return of clubs.

Nova Cheq is the enigmatic Leeds-based DJ and producer, who has engraved his multi-faceted sound of dark and chuggy bass tones with fast-paced hardcore wobblers. There are certainly no boundaries with this new to the scene artist. 

Nova has created a versatile and disruptive sound, since only starting production in the back end of 2019. Fast forward to 2021, this has proven to be the year of Nova Cheq. With an earth-shattering EP on Sherelle’s label ‘Hooversound’, releases on DJ Spits Rascals, Trax Haven, Das Booty and Gimme a Break. Not to mention his releases gaining regular play across the globe, with the support from industry idealists; Sherelle, VTSS, Mel G, Jessy Lanza, Kessler, Kush Jones and many more.

Ohmydais has took the London scene by storm over the past few years. Her moody brews of electro and breaky flavours have regularly hit the Rinse FM airwaves, as well as through her own genre-deriding residency on Threads Radio. After devoting a lot of time to supplying her listeners with a constant stream of content, she was able to translate this to the dancefloors this year when clubs finally opened. 

Daisy prides herself on being able to provide a high-intensity set that holds subtle glimpses of melodic lightness and with her breakneck approach to mixing and infectious energy behind the decks she is always able to connect with the audience. Her recent appearances on exclusive live streams such as Fold and HÖR to accompany her regular gigs at The Cause further solidify why she is on the way to reaching the upper echelons of selector stardom in the UK underground scene.

In such a short space of time, there hasn’t been much that Dan Walker has yet to accomplish within the music industry. His love, dedication and eagerness for the scene has seen him involved with many different projects; such as Wire NCL and Release. Dan is certainly a figure that the music industry needs, he has the willingness and drive to provide a platform for other artists to grow, and not as a tool to project himself. Now, with the recent creation of his alias Four:AM he has plans push on as an artist himself, while continuing to shine the light on other up and coming artists in the North East with Wire and potential events following the pandemic.

Since taking over the reins at Newcastle based streaming platform Wire, his stock and credibility has significantly grown. The platform encountered difficulties under previous leadership due to noise complaints from neighbours, so when Dan took over he had needed to secure a new space to broadcast. After several discussions with local clubs and spaces, they finally decided to use Hidden Heights, which allowed them to much more dynamic with their streams. This saw the brand grow, showcasing various collectives across the North East. However, with Dan always looking to keep the brand fresh, he plans to abolish the schedule format that was in place previously and become a fortnightly event and hopefully become a bigger staple in the music scene.  

With the ability to adapt to any crowd, mixing partner and situation Dan has been able to form a style which covers a lot of different genres. He attributes this to playing with different mates who all have different styles. His mixes with fellow North East artist Popka, normally delve into deeper and groovier sounds and mixes with other artist like NORD delve into faster and harder sounds. With his alias Four:AM he wants to be push a faster, eclectic sound but with having the flexibility to adapt to any situation.

We recently caught up with Dan to discuss what sources he uses to dig for music, his plans for Wire moving forward, learning curves from booking artists in the past and his view on the scene post lockdown.
