Brian Eno defined “ambience” as “atmosphere”, as “a surrounding influence: a tint”, and he created Ambient Music to induce “a space to think”. In the intervening forty-five years, the genre classified as ambient has instead generated an endless catalogue of anodyne day-spa sounds that run perilously close to the Muzak that he reacted against. 

  In Fragile States, we return to ambient’s origin story, to capture the atmospherics of our time, highlighting the values of “doubt and uncertainty” that were so present, and so prescient, in Eno’s work. Although he sought to make his ambient work “as ignorable as it is interesting”, we seek not to rescind the agency of sound. Our environments are too perilous to be ignored.  

Instead, Fragile States proposes a ‘conscious ambience’, one which is entirely in lock-step with our social and political malaise. Across 25 tracks, we find all manner of misgivings in our surrounding influences. The tint is now tainted, yet we move on nonetheless. This is ambient music for connection and purpose; a runway to resolution. Music for life support.

Ketapasando en colaboración con Pifia Records presenta su tercera referencia. Micorriza, un LP technoso compuesto y producido por Yesavage Sauvage con aires postpunk y screamo; una oda al punk y la suciedad con transfondo electrónico.

Yesavage Sauvage es el proyecto de un artista Zamorano afinado en Asturias con un estilo que fluctúa entre techno, ambient, screamo y powerelectronics. Unas letras pretenciosas y abrasadoras sobre un sonido sucio y estridente. Define su música como indubstrial technoide. Este año, el sello Bruto Industries ha hecho acopio de su talento sacando un EP con su firma donde podemos deducir las características de Yesavage Sauvage

Micorriza, un LP de techno con voces screamo y ruidismo power electrónico que alterna con intimismo ambient. Letras políticas pero con minúscula en castellano y asturianu que se alejan del folklorismo de su último EP, recientemente editado por Bruto Industries. Transmite la vibra de un disco metal extremo, pero está hecho con ableton y sintes y por un punki viejo que como vive en un pueblo no consigue encontrar músicos.

El trabajo consta de 10 temas, en los que predominan los ritmos oscuros y potentes con eficiente bombo a negras y tribalismos sucios como los de la mejor etapa de esplendor geométrico, acompañados de melodías tristes y jodidas. Un camino pedregoso e inquietante que no puedes dejar de andar hasta llegar a la última nota, que probablemente sea un acople de feedback de un echo space pasado por un pedal de distorsión.

CityOfFeelings - THE NEW GOD

This album came to be in result of the challenge we set for us for the advent time of 2023. We set rules that we would produce and release a track and my partner Anna Repman would do a painting for this track. For 20 days we continue to release until we decided to abrupt it few days before Christmas. Resulting album turned out to cover a bunch of different genres, from ambient and soundscape to hip=hop beats and even breakcore.

Serat - Nord Weg

It's the first single of 2024, so it has a special flavor.

It's a track I made into two versions, not knowing which one to keep after mastering. So you can choose between a « wild" version, where the river accompanies you on your walk, or a more stripped-down version that will soothe you in the evening.

I've listened to so much beautiful music during 2023, and so many artists have made me feel good with their music, that I wanted to recapture that state with this track, and dare to add a few piano notes.

I've got a lot more to share with you in the New Year, and I can't wait to let you in on it
