Boxedjellyfish will be blowing the roof off The Newcastle Hotel on November 11th at STEEL CITY BASS II.

Boxedjellyfish is a Newcastle/Awabakal and Worimi country based DJ, who is sure to get your feet stomping and heart feeling full, delivering set showcasing the darker, heavier side of drum and bass and a strong love for prog psy.

Her love for drum and bass and psytrance started immediately after attending her first doof, which quickly evolved into her travelling around, attending as many events as possible in and around the NSW area.

After a few years she was able to finally find the genres that she wanted to work with, and after taking this step, secured her first gig in 2019.

2022 has seen Boxedjellyfish slay at the first Steel City Bass as well as make her Sydney debut at Cabin Fever Crew's Bass Ship: 31 Seconds. You'll also see her spinning some filthy tunes later this year at some yet-to-be-announced events. 👀

Meet Ninyo!

Ninyo is a Sydney Based DJ and producer. Her sound is a hypnotic mix of dark, minimal drum and bass, deep dubstep and half time dnb. 
In 2022, Ninyo has been busy playing shows around Sydney as well as interstate, and has shared the stage with Drum and Bass heavyweights including Pola and Bryson, Monrroe, PHDNB and Chris Munky. 
She is currently working on producing her upcoming EP, to be released in 2023.

Newy Bass Crew: 003 Introducing... Ninyo

Stemming from love of the ebb and flow of progressive metal, psychedelic rock journey music, Dread Maiden found her way to discovering a deep love for dub and drum and bass.

﻿Having a background in acoustic music and production and being an avid supporter of the Australian drum and bass community for years, Dread Maiden took the leap from punter to DJ in late 2021, with a focus on blending jungle, techy, dark minimal, half-time and liquid drum and bass, as well as exploring the wide spectrum of other bassy sub-genres, manifesting aural journeys with an eclectic concoction of light and dark, high and lows.

Dread Maiden co-hosts Sydney-based Orbital Radio show, Cabin Fever Sessions, alongside Cabin Fever boss-lady Tassone, and KreliaS, representing Newcastle AU DJ collective, Newy Bass Crew, of which she is the creative director. Newy Bass Crew aims to shine a spotlight on local DJs, artists and events and is focussed on cultivating a community of love, compassion, diversity, inclusivity and freedom of expression. Newy Bass Crew has already has successful events and have several more up-coming events happening around the Newcastle area, and are frequently involved with the Newcastle and Maitland Fire & Flow community jams.

2022 was fruitful for Dread Maiden, with January 2022 seeing her featured as a guest artist on Bristol, UK's Goat Shed radio show, The Down Underground.

She has become a regular around Newcastle and Sydney bass parties, including Newcastle's Higher Ground bass event series, Newy Bass Crew's Steel City Bass, Dekonstructed's Dekonstructed Dance and Daydreaming, and as a resident Cabin Fever Crew DJ, with gigs at Sydney music institutions, The Lansdowne and The Gladstone, as well as recurring spots playing at the Bass Ship events at Knox Street Bar, and recently, as international support for Brazilian drum and bass artist Jam Thieves and UK jungle powerhouse, Serial Killaz.

February 2023 sees her on support for the Cabin Fever Crew, Newy Bass Crew and Particle Sound System collaboration bringing jungle and drum and bass OG, Dillinja, to Sydney.

The end of 2022 saw her play at the bass-focussed doof, Basscamp, alongside some of Australia and New Zealand's most progressive and estabilished bass acts, includng Truth, Ryanosaurus, Dysphemic, Xsetra, Grug, Duos, Doctor Werewolf, Itsu and Prowler Dub Sound System.

2023 is already booking fast with Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne events coming up, including NSW festival, Zenith Gathering, in April 2023.

A week after Basscamp 2023, and my heart is still brimming with the  energy of that  weekend. I have boundless gratitude to Darcy, Atlanta, and the entire Enigmatic Industries team for making this years Basscamp one that will never be forgotten. This year, they've truly outdone themselves, and it's as if the benevolent deities above have showered us all with their  blessings, painting our days with sunshine and our nights with shimmering stars.

Absolutely incredible weekend with so many bloody awesome humans. I had the joy of meeting countless individuals who had been my "online DJ mates" for some time, rekindling connections with dear old friends, and weaving new friendships that seem as vast as the cosmos itself. It was a weekend filled with electrifying music, laughing til it hurts, and endless banter - a true treasure worth falling over for time and time again (I have so many bruises).

Finally uploading my set to Soundcloud, a gift for those who missed it, a sweet memory for those who wish to relive it, and a harmonious journey for all those in between.

My heart is full of love for the extended Basscamp family, and I can't wait to reunite with each and every one of you. Until then, may your lives be filled with joy and bass so sick it makes you spew!

Newy Bass Crew, established to foster a community focused on love, inclusivity, equality, diversity, authenticity, and the unrestrained freedom of self-expression in Australia’s Hunter Region and beyond. Shining a light on talents in rural areas, celebrating the connection between music and nature.
Launched in late 2021, the crew comprises of a plethora of DJs from the region.
NBC hold a big focus on underground rave and doof culture and safe spaces, crew members have been featured at various events including Basscamp, Subsonic Festival, Zenith Gathering, Dragon Dreaming, Rain Dance Festival, SubTerra, Esoteric Festival and more.
