Dystopian Tapes is the birth of a new vision, a fresh take of industrial sci-fi techno, embodied as
a brand new sub catalog on our beloved Otium Records.
Led by .wav_909, this catalog focuses on hard, cold blooded, metallic sounds, blissful
harshness; all made by carefully curated promising artists.

For this first iteration of the project, we gathered skillful producers from around Europe, namely
Spain, Switzerland and Serbia. With the hard techno/rave scene getting faster and faster each
year, the intention here is to slow things down a bit and focus on intricate sound design and a
heavy attention to details and precision.

We are immensely proud to present to you Dystopian Tapes Volume 1, the first of a long series
of banging hard techno and we hope you like the release as much as we do.

After debuting on the label with his juggernaut track ‘Algorithmica’, the aptly named ‘Vortextual’ EP delivers a sonic landscape that's embellishing his status as an artist of immeasurably sonic capabilities. This time, with a full body of work to display, he is giving us a masterclass of unconventional and forward thinking sound design across all 4 tracks.

Beginning proceedings with ‘Three Fires’, the EP cuts straight to the point, force-feeding the listener into a commanding and hard-hitting aural experience. As the main source of inspiration for the EPs title, the track primarily focuses on stretching and bending modular recordings and using synths with vocal characteristics and flavour.

Nexe label owners, NX1 teamed up with the British techno head Rommek, to configure a pure class and fearless four track EP entitled 'Foreign Bodies'.

The A side kicks off with 'Foreign Bodies 1' , a dense broken cluster of sonics, with fat bass, tense atmospheres and layered whispers that trap you from the very beginning.

Next up is 'Foreign Bodies 2', Razor-sharp and raw, yet hypnotic with a distinct techno pad that cuts through the mix.

On the B side you will find 'Foreign Bodies 3' that holds the tension. Electrifying synths and percussions, bold and powerful with an industrial feel.

The release is finalised with 'Foreign Bodies 4', which pushes things even harder ! Breaks slice through the twisted sound design and distortion, a perfect “closing to the core” to finish this high voltage collaboration EP.
