Indian duo Baalti make an explosive debut on Steel City Dance Discs with 'Overbit' - lead single taken from their forthcoming Mela EP, influenced by the high-energy sound system culture of West Bengal.

Mela (translating to festival/gathering) sees the Indian-born, Brooklyn-based duo dive into the riotous sound clash traditions of West Bengal and Maharashtra, where towering, DIY sound systems rigged up by local crews transform the streets into electric battlegrounds of bass, rhythm, and sound. The result is four tracks that draw a direct line between Indian sound clashes and the forward-thinking pulse of UK club culture. 

'Overbit' pulls the listener into the mela with engulfing bass dives, crowd noise and head-spinning percussion workouts.

EP out in full 20th Feb.

Let It Be is a four-track EP by dj wifi, featuring a carefully curated selection of favourites created over the past year. Melancholic yet high-energy groovy techno remake, delivering an electrifying experience. Featuring a driving four-on-the-floor beat and a pulsating bassline, the track keeps the momentum high while exploring deep emotive undertones. Mathis Ruffing elevates the composition w/ a masterfully executed switch-up break, offering a moment of introspection before launching back into its fast-paced rhythm. Emotional Voyage welcomes Lai Raw once again to be onboard with his stellar productions. Having joined the label as
a core member last year, it is only natural to follow up with his first solo EP, and we are extremely happy to have these
fantastic productions on our imprint. The marvelous soundscape and superb mixing, in combination with originality, is
something that we cherish a lot.
Lai Raw's EP ‘Meca Night’ holds 5 tracks, including a remix by UrbnMowgli & Moodrich and a reprise of its title track.
Meca Night showcases a wide range of his sonic palette, which defines Lai Raw’s sound. His approach to drum
programming and chopped vocals highlight this.
The title track ‘Meca Night’ was started during a holiday close to Lai Raw’s hometown, a place called Caños De Meca.
Based on a patch from his travel synth of choice, the Syntakt, it explores stripped-back, progressive arrangements.
‘Hear It All Day’ is a footwork homage combined with Lai Raw’s melodic songwriting experimentations. ‘Khaos Lime’ is
more than a simple club tool: It showcases a more performance-based aspect to Lai Raw’s productions as the bassline
and bleepy synth chirps all emerged from a full-on jam with the Access Virus synth.
Acid synth lines, footwork, and breakbeat rhythms dominate throughout the EP. Its bouncy, upbeat, to dreamy, deep yet
unconstrained powerful mood makes this a captivating and modern dance floor EP.

NÜ PREMIERE : Racing Nokia - Zoomies (Swooh Remix)

Two titans of texture & energy, Yazzus and Jensen Interceptor, collide to bring us their emphatic & berserk 'Mecha Tools' EP. Four bass tech rhythm heavy eva's designed for the sole purpose of lifeform transcendence. Both Berlin based, they start things off by taking us on a trip to the magic city with their multi formed genre melting machine 'I'm Going To Miami' which sets the tone for the tools ahead. Echos of tribal, bass & techno are all layered throughout, fused to perfection, showcasing the pair's peak production prowess. Then the alarm is sounded with a jacking vocal chop on 'OMG Unit', which is met by an avalanche of thunderous drums and futurist patterns, constantly pushed along with quick experimental cuts, and a barrage of blanketing groove, 'OMG Unit' is a perc workout like no other. The quaking continues with 'ACT Right' which sees the duo fully launch their shared love for all things bass and scrapyard percussion. Finally, we get a slight cooling off with 'Killua 99' to bring us back down to earth, but make no mistake, K99 still strikes & jacks with an endless snare groove that parades over droning bass, along with some psych & rap vocal pairing creating perfect nerv synchronization.
