One of the hardest working promoters, talent buyers and booking agents in the North American electronic music scene, Justin has been responsible for touring numerous acts, across North America & beyond since 2003. He owns and operates “Nexus Artist Management”, along-side Chris Pattison (Co-owner) and together they work with some of the biggest Producers and DJ’s across the Dance Music Universe.

Outside of the Booking Agency and Production company, Justin R.E.M. finds his place in the DJ Booth, playing everything from Deep House to Techno, his dancefloor deliveries are both technical and sophisticated in sound. He’s played countless shows over the years, at venues to include the Dominican Republics’ High Room, Halcyon and Orchard Bar, in N.Y.C., the Winter Music Conference in Miami & Hawaii’s Ambrosia Ultra-Lounge, to name a few. He’s currently a
Resident DJ and lead promoter at North America’s long-running electronic music series, Sunday Night Mass, which has been showcasing top-flight DJ’s from around the world, since 1998.

Nexus Artists (formerly, Flex Productions) have brought hundreds of events to life over the years. In the early 2000s they produced some of the most memorable all-night electronic music events, ever experienced in Vermont. Curating ground-breaking events, such as Fundamental, Germinate, Back 2 the New School, Synergy, To the Beat of The Heart (Cupid’s Revenge), Revolver (series), Synergy Sessions “LIVE”, Fundamental 2 & Don’t Sweat the Technics (which was made into a mini documentary produced by Derek Lee and Craig Mitchell, depicting Vermont Electronic Music culture and events, at the peak of its’ underground. These were key
events, that would play an important role in the development of Electronic Music culture, in Vermont and surrounding states. Nexus held their official launch party, dubbed “ABUNDANCE” in
2003, which was the first “New England Electronic Music Festival” ever produced in the region. The event featured 45+ DJs, Producers, Visual Artists & Live Acts from six different countries on two stages, in Northern Vermont and remains the single largest outdoor electronic music showcase to date, in the Green Mountains.

In 2025, the focus remains the same for Justin R.E.M., to provide high-quality electronic music events for the masses and seek new dancefloors to discover, while staying true to the brand that Nexus Artists has developed and has become known for globally, over the past 23 years.

Change is inevitable, and nowhere is this more prevalent than in the world of dance music. Analog gives way to digital, trends come and go, yet NYC’s DJ Joeski remains at the top of his game, and now, amid his fourth decade as one of House music’s most sought-after stars, his momentum shows no signs of slowing.

Joeski’s trajectory can be traced back to 1991, when he burst onto the NYC house music scene as a founding member of The Chocolate Factory DJ collective. He delighted crowds at Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium and NASA, helped turn “Save The Robots” into a NYC afterhours institution and earned his first residency at “Together” parties at the legendary Roxy, playing alongside the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Louie Vega, and Roger Sanchez.

Already a fixture on the U.S. and Canadian club circuit, in the late 90’s Joeski added production to his repertoire, building his own recording studio and spending the next few years mastering his craft. In 2000 he burst into the clubs and onto the charts with hit after hit on Electrik Soul, Siesta, Chez and Camouflage, emerging as one of the most sought-after DJs, remixers, and producers in the scene.

In 2001 Joeski launched Maya Records, with releases like “Hustler’s Revenge” and his collaboration with DJ Chus on “El Amor” propelling the label onto the forefront of the U.S. house music sound that would become a global phenomenon and win him worldwide acclaim from clubbers and fellow DJs alike. Demand for his studio skills has grown exponentially over the past two decades, with Joeski producing and remixing on many of the industry’s most influential labels, including Ministry of Sound, Defected, Bedrock, Nervous, Cajual, Relief, KMS, Compost, Hot Creations, Poker Flat, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird, Suara and Desert Hearts. Such a strong and consistent studio output has helped catapult him further into the ranks of the house music elite.

Now in its 20th year, his Maya label continues to release a steady output of quality material that remain fixtures on the Beatport and Traxsource tech and deep house charts. 2021 also saw his creation of Aztec Tribalism Recordings, as an outlet for deep, tribal, and afro leaning house music.

Fueled by his genuine love of the music and his hard work through the years, there’s no doubt that Joeski will continue to play a major role both behind the decks and in the studio, captivating new generations of club-goers and maintaining his place as one of dance music’s most enduring talents.

A 25-year veteran of the underground Hip-Hop scene and turntablist community, DJ Killa-Jewel has rocked decks across North America, Europe and Asia at some of the most prestigious clubs, concerts and festivals to date. Well known for her collaboration with Thud Rumble’s DJ Q-Bert in his ‘Do It Yourself Vol. 2’ DVD, Killa Jewel’s participation in numerous DJ battles including the Canadian DMCs, ITF Scratching Categories (NYC), the World Vestax Extravaganza (Japan), and the Red Bull Thre3Style Canadian Finals (Calgary) solidified her place amongst the best in the industry. When she’s rocking a crowd, her DJ sets range from classic, old-school, and underground Hip-Hop to the more dance-centric sounds of Trap, Electronic, Twerk and Dubstep.
As a music producer, DJ Killa-Jewel unofficially released her first full-length album, Saudade, in 2014. Later, she was joined by Nate Husser, Wasiu, Ras Kass and Sereni-T, along with the use of her own voice as a singer on the Reckless EP, her latest release from 2020, solidifying her status as both a producer and performing artist. Influences include DJ Shadow, Amon Tobin, DJ Q-Bert, Kid Koala and Radiohead. She writes all her own music and spends a large amount of time considering conceptual takes on her work, which bring an element of theatricals and originality to her work.

DJ Killa-Jewel has faced multiple artistic reinventions throughout the past couple of years, changing her style and evolving at a constant pace, she encapsulates the essence of a modern artist. She has incorporated all of these reinventions into her most recent album, Sagittarius.

Phonomental Music | Fraktured L.A. | Nexus Artists – Los Angeles, CA 

Jeff's earliest experience in dance music began in the mid-1980s in Sacramento, California working as a DJ for private events, local clubs to finally hitting the air waves on Sacramento’s popular FM-102 mix show as a guest DJ, mixing the latest club hits over the late-night weekend hours. 

In 1987, Jeff would make the move to Los Angeles to attend school to become a Sound Engineer. As fate would have it, Jeff (known as Spinn at the time) would eventually make his way to producing remixes in Burbank, California for Alternative & New Wave artists such as Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Fine Young Cannibals to EMF and was heard on the World Famous KROQ (106.7FM) exclusively. Soon after, Jeff’s voice and mixing talents could be heard as a co-host and mix show DJ on the legendary "Mars FM Top 30 Countdown" (103.1FM) with host and legend, Swedish Egil. In 1991, this Santa Monica based station was known for breaking such acts as Moby, The Prodigy, 808 State to Rozalla. Mars FM was also the first Electronic Dance Music station in the nation on the FM air waves while serving the Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley and Orange County area 24-7.

In the beginning of 1990, the United States was slowly adapting to an alternative style of Electronic Dance Music which was thriving in underground dance clubs in the Los Angeles area. At this time, Jeff was fortunate enough to work at a popular record shop in Hollywood, California supplying club/underground DJs the latest dance tracks to date. In 1994, Jeff opened up his own record shop and label with a colleague located 40 miles south in Orange County, California and would remain in business in one way, shape or form for 16 years.  

In 1997, Simply Jeff received his first recording contract from an indie record label based out of Los Angeles with a name suitability called, “City of Angels” (also prior home of The Crystal Method, Uberzone and Elite Force). Jeff would continue to release popular dance singles such as "My Planet" and "Godzilla Funk" to releasing top selling dance compilations such as the "Funk-Da-Fried" series which has received worldwide acclaim. 

Simply Jeff's evolving style of Funky Breaks accompanied by the funky sounds of House and Techno has taken Jeff to perform on stages around the world. Simply Jeff has also appeared as an authority figure in major films, television shows, live cast and documentaries on the subject of Electronic Dance Music over years.

Simply Jeff has evolved once again as an artist and dance music enthusiast. This has ultimately drove Jeff’s passion and life mission to share, inspire and educate the next generation of Electronic Dance Music artist and enthusiast around the world.  In the summer of 2019, Jeff released his first dance single in 9 years called "Sister Valentine" featured on the album compilation "Beyond the Stars" (a tribute to the late great Skylab 2000).

A product of the 80’s San Francisco dance music boom, DJ/Producer Doc Martin has been creating innovative, high-energy electronic music for nearly three decades. Once a mainstay on the Pacific Northwest scene, he has gone on to perform everywhere from Ibiza to Tokyo, London, and beyond, creating an enduring body of work in the process. Now, as he enters a new phase of his career, Doc shows no signs of slowing down, as he continues to evolve, revealing new sides of his artistry as he releases the most compelling music of his career.

Doc Martin’s choice to pursue a career in music was an obvious one, given the musical family he grew up in. Most notably, his mother sang with Bay Area icons Jefferson Starship.Doc, however, was more interested in absorbing the various electronic subcultures that were emerging around the country. Endless hours spent in SF’s indie record stores armed him with an expertise in everything from acid house to techno, as he developed the genre-bending style that would come to define his career.

Within a few years of his first performance, Doc was selling out shows across his hometown and began setting his sights on bigger things. In the early ’90s, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he quickly integrated himself into the city’s thriving rave scene. Not long after, his profile had risen enough for him to be invited to Europe to play at some of the continent’s most iconic clubs and parties, including Fabric (Residency), Circoloco, The Rex, Panorama Bar, and Sun waves to name a few, In the ensuing decades, he became a favorite amongst audiences from New York to London, performing regularly at clubs including Output, Coachella, The Roxy, Twilo, City Fox, Space, Desert Hearts, Movement, and Lightning In A Bottle.

After three decades of bringing people together with music, Doc Martin’s passion and drive remain as strong as ever. He maintains a steady schedule of performances across the globe while continuing to release new tracks regularly. As the rare artist to achieve the status of elder statesman, he has left a lasting legacy in electronic music, a legacy which he continues to add to every day.

This edition of the mix-series was recorded at “MELZ UNDERGROUND 5.0”, a club-culture styled, private event for a dear friend of the Vermont Music scene, Melanie Carpenter.  For years Melanie has been creating amazing synergy within her network of local famers and co-ops. She and her husband Jeff provide premier medicinal herbs for natural health benefits to the community at large, through their work with “Zack Woods Herb Farm”, located in Hyde Park, Vermont.

One of the hardest working promoters & talent buyers in the North American electronic music scene, Justin has been responsible for touring numerous acts, across North America & beyond since 2003.

He owns and operates Nexus Artist Management, along-side Chris Pattison (Co-owner) and together they have worked with some of the biggest Producers and DJs in the dance music world.
Outside of the booking agency, Justin finds his place in the DJ booth as well.  Playing everything from deep house to techno, his dance floor deliveries are both technical and sophisticated in sound. Justin has played countless shows over the years at venues like Halcyon and Orchard Bar in N.Y.C., the Winter Music Conference in Miami and Ambrosia Ultra-Lounge in Hawaii, just to name a few.  Currently a resident DJ and the lead promoter at the Northeast United States, long-running electronic music series Sunday Night Mass, a night that has been showcasing top-flight DJs from around the world since 1998 & is one of North Americas’ premier electronic music events.

Justin has brought hundreds of events to life in the Green Mountains of Vermont.  In the early 2000’s Nexus Artists threw some of the most memorable all-night electronic music events Vermont has ever experienced.  Along-side counterpart Chris Pattison they produced event’s such as Fundamental, Germinate, Back 2 the New School, Synergy, To The Beat Of The Heart (Cupid’s Revenge), Revolver (series), Fundamental 2 and Don’t Sweat the Technics (which was later made into a mini documentary produced by Derek Lee and Craig Mitchell, depicting the events and Burlington electronic music culture at the peak of ’90s underground rave culture).  These were key events that would play an important role in the development of electronic music culture in Vermont and beyond.

Nexus Artists *official* launch event, dubbed ABUNDANCE, was the first New England Electronic Music Festival taking place in 2002.  The event featured 45+ DJs & live Acts from six different countries on two separate stages in northern Vermont.  The festival remains the single largest outdoor electronic music event in the area to date.

Curating ground-breaking events, such as Fundamental, Germinate, Back 2 the New School, Synergy, To the Beat of The Heart (Cupid’s Revenge), Revolver (series), Synergy Sessions “LIVE”, Fundamental 2 & Don’t Sweat the Technics (which was made into a mini documentary produced by Derek Lee and Craig Mitchell, depicting Vermont Electronic Music culture and events, at the peak of its’ underground. MIKE I. (Harder They Come) and JUSTIN R.E.M. (Nexus Artists) deliver the first edition of the “Synergy Sessions”, with a live recording of their TWO for TWO, *b2b*, throw-down.  This particular mix was done in one take, on Pioneer CDJ2000NXS2 (2x) and a Pioneer DJM900NXS mixer, recorded on a Zoom “H1n”, Digital Media recorder.

What makes this particular Mix session special, is that each DJ showed up with their own USB library and did not discuss what they would play in advance of the recording.   

Please play it loud & enjoy at smaller gatherings, or whatever it is you may be doing... The message is in the Mix!!

Synergy Sessions #001 - Mike I. (Harder They Come) & Justin R.E.M. (Nexus Artists)

ALS is an always fatal neurodegenerative disease in which a person's brain loses connection with the muscles. People with ALS lose their ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe.

ALS usually strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70, but it can strike anyone at anytime. Although there is not yet a cure or treatment that halts ALS, scientists have made significant progress in understanding what causes ALS. But their work is not done. Together, we work toward a cure.
That is where you come in.

Over the next 60 hours DJs from all over are going to be donating their time once again to raise money for one of our own. It has been just under four years since Pat Fontes was diagnosed with ALS. Sometimes writing about how amazing a person who has been nothing but humble is difficult. Not many people have sacrificed so much and given their all like Pat Fontes has. If you have never been lucky enough to meet Pat you have met someone he has touched.

This year’s marathon will be hosted in Rhode Island’s newest DIY collaborative space, Focal, which focuses on arts, music, education and advocacy.

THE “SYNERGY SESSIONS” _ #TSS002
For the second edition of the Synergy Sessions mix-series, we present long-time friend of the Nexus Artists family and Northeast USA, Electronic Music pioneer, “TRICKY PAT”. 

Tricky Pat has been repping the Vermont flag for twisted breakbeats and turntable wizardry since the mid 1990's. As a DJ, he was a staple in the ever-flourishing Northeast rave scene and could easily be found throwing down some dirty beats on many a back-room sound system. 

Whether it was playing around New England and the Tri-State area, or Northbound across the Canadian border, you were always in for a treat when it came to his top-notch selections and leftfield skillset. Additionally, he was a prolific local party promoter, and had played quite a big role in bringing the underground sounds of Jungle and Drum N Bass to his hometown of Burlington. Entering the 2000's, he gained some worldwide notoriety when dabbling in beat production, alongside Brandon Miles from Maine. The two created a small catalog of forward thinking tunes which quickly caught the attention of the very people who influenced them to begin with. Full circle status achieved -- Fast forward to now... After a 3 year hiatus and an extensive road trip around the USA, 2020 saw his spirited return to the artform of DJing. Finally reunited with his record collection, and thanks to the pandemic, given ample amount of time to flex those strange thoughts and ideas, his audio output this year has been massive. As we near the years end, he is grateful to still be able to share his unique style and experiments in sound with you all. Case in point with this emphatic Breakbeat driven Synergy Session.

Nexus Artist Management (Formerly "Flex Productions" the O.G. promoters from "Flex Records" crew), founded in 2001 by Promoters & DJ's Justin R.E.M. and Chris Pattison.

After producing a massive number of their own events (and still continue to...) featuring top-flight electronic music artists from around the globe, Chris and Justin sought to promote the talent that they experienced in the Green Mountains of Vermont to other reaches of North America and beyond. Thus, Nexus Artists emerged onto the North American electronic music scene. After a few short years, Nexus Artists developed the continent’s premier break-beat artist roster, managing the likes of John Kelley, Simply Jeff, Control-Z, Cut n' Run, Mephisto Odyssey, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, and Elite Force to name a few.

In addition to having booked artists world-wide, Nexus Artists has showcased the most electronic music in the region to date. Nexus produced the first New England electronic music festival, ABUNDANCE, in 2003. The event featured 48 artists from six different countries on two stages and the event attracted electronica enthusiasts from all over the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada.  In 2023, Nexus Artists remains a foremost choice in music offerings in both quality and quantity of services provided.
