Mono/Poly’s tune was originally for an emcee but never got used until recently on his new project “The Union EP" with singer Alyss.  The version on this Serato record is different, instrumental and a real banger.

With many writers a theme develops in their works that, over time, reveals color and definition previously unseen; not just a new perspective, but a new understanding. “lofeye” is a concept album and personal testament that Philadelphia rapper lojii (fka uhlife) has been piecing together over the last three years, giving only hints with 2015’s no ebola, 2016’s dutti, and 2017’s acclaimed collaborative album due rent with producer Swarvy on Portland-based imprint Fresh Selects.  

In lojii’s own words, “lofeye is about working with limited resources and making the highest quality life out of what the f**k you got. It’s when you’re ‘lo-fi’ by circumstance (not just for aesthetic) but your aim is always higher. In essence, this is an LP about being rooted in the dirt you come from but reaching for the sky above you.”

While lyrically this sentiment is completely self-illustrated, lojii found a diverse cast of producers to fully realize the aesthetic variety necessary to tell this kind of story. Passing through sparse flavors of boom bap, house, electronica, grime, trap, and punk married with kinetic avant garde raps, lofeye is infused with lojii’s signature smokey style, thanks to the album’s producers thook, Sadhu Gold, Marc Rebillet, Repeated Measures, New Zealand’s HeapRize, and Soulection’s NiceGuyxVinny.

Over 14 tracks and 42 minutes, “lofeye” is both a testament to what hard work and clear vision can yield, and a personal exploration of artistry and versatility from a rapper trying to improve his quality of life. From gentle hooks to blunt intensity, accented by hazy skits and interludes, it is difficult to misunderstand lojii’s message.

Accompanying the album will be a limited edition collection of  merchandise featuring original artwork by lojii. Proceeds from each item will benefit a designated organization working to lessen suffering throughout the world.

“lofeye” will be available on March 23rd through all digital platforms and presented on limited edition 12” black vinyl.

“With the ever-expanding archive of music we've released over the last 35 EPs, 2 CDs and 1 vinyl outing, we've done our best to catalogue the best dubstep we can get our hands on. Whether from an upcomer, or an established producer, we give every musician we work with an equal standing on our little soapbox. The next artist to take the stand is the first UK-based man on the buttons since June 2016's FKOFd029 from our boy Chokez – and we're delighted to have Teffa give us his take on 140bpm. 

“Our latest 4 track is an adventurous, explorative effort around the edges of what we've pushed through the label. Taking the blueprints of old school material with its beats, bass and space ingredients and adding some new school spice sees Teffa's FKOFd034 rattle the bass bins to full effect. We kick things off with 815D with its otherworldly samples, rolling sub and clattering drumwork. It's the nightmarish soundtrack of a dying planet, one that threatens the rewind at every draw. 100s Of Lightyears continues the chillingly spaced theme, stripping the music back to its bear minimums while losing none of the raw power.  

“Tar Goroth brings some Tolkien-esque vibes to the EP, lumbering along with its depths and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. We wrap Teffa's debut on FKOFd with The Main Question – a delectable synthy addition that was one of the first tracks we signed. You'll want to listen to this one on a rig a few times, trust.

“This is Teffa's third release in 2018 and we're not surprised the producer's getting some well-deserved label attention. If we keep getting monsters like we've signed from the young producer's studio there's a promising future ahead of him. Keep eyes and ears locked for what comes next!"
