Wildwood is truly honoured to bring you Rainbow Serpent Festival's Mad Monday Closing Set by none other than our soul brother Patrice Baumel. 

Patrice has a few words he would like to say... 

“Ahead of my GU42 Berlin album release on March 29th, I wanted to share a very special live set from the other side of the planet. Like Berlin, Rainbow Serpent is an anomaly on the rave map. This mix will be online for a very limited period only:

The best dance floor in the world. That’s the Market Stage of Rainbow Serpent Festival to me. The energy of the Rainbow tribe, the rabid vibe and feeling of unity are difficult to describe to anyone who has not been here. Simply standing on the dancefloor and experience this incredible sound system is one of life’s finer pleasures. I felt absolutely honoured to be trusted with the task to close the festival. Looking onto the dancefloor from the dj booth, the Market Stage painted a beautiful picture. The atmosphere was electric and love-drunk all day, Nick Warren and D-Nox brought their A-game.

This is my third year in a row playing here and the absolute highlight on my yearly calendar. In these years my wife and I have made friends for life here, which is why we release this mix with our beloved Wildwood crew. We have grown extremely fond of Australia as a country. This place has received us with open arms from day one and never fails to blow our minds in many different ways. It has become our second home.

I want to thank the entire Rainbow crew for creating a place of artistic expression, of self-discovery, education and togetherness. This is much more than a festival, it’s a template of how to build a community.” - Patrice Baumel

Incredible experience at Kater Blau the other weekend - first time playing my new music in Berlin! There’s something about playing Techno to Germans especially on their home turf that makes me a little nervous :)  I put it down to the country turning out so many seminal artists & production heroes of mine. It’s important to me that the music comes across as authentic, adding something new to new to the already rich sonic tapestry.  Here’s an hour I managed to record from the set.

My latest set (inspired by my recent attendance to my favorite festival worldwide called Wonderfruit.co in Thailand) with ARTBAT (3x), KAS:ST, Holed Coin, Be Svendsen (2x), Dole & Kom, Monolink (3x), Above & Beyond, Stan Kolev, Fehrplay, Solee, Dave Seaman, Cubicolor, Patrice Baumel, Rue, Alastor, Stiven Rivic, Max Cooper, Jerome Isma-ae (2x), Betoko, Tale Of Us, Tilt, Gai Barone, Airwave (2x), Hybrid, Joost van Bellen, Orkidea, Viken Armen and DJ Rolando.

First 60 minutes: Downtempo, Electronic, Deep House & Melodic (chill music)
Second hour: Melodic, Progressive and Techno
Last 60 minutes: Progressive, Trance and 2 massive classics to end it all full circle.

DOWNTEMPO-ELECTRONIC-DEEP-PROGRESSIVE-MELODIC-TECHNO - January 2020 Edition

On Saturday, February 29th, beneath a halo of shimmering lights and amidst a dizzying array of lasers in Great Hall, Rodriguez Jr. delivered his newest opus, featuring tracks from his new album Blisss, (debuting on April 24 on Mobilee) to an eager, captivated audience at Cityfox LIVE. The impending album name accurately portrayed the overall mood of the whole live set, a body of work that projected elation and sheer beauty upon listeners. Each sound meticulously crafted and placed to create a grandiose ambiance, at times orchestral in its arrangement, elicited the sense of being part of something bigger than oneself. Coupled with entrancing visuals, a frenetic circle of lights that extended into the audience, and various lasers, it seemed quite clear that our production and Rodriguez Jr.’s music were simply made for each other. 

Harkening back to this amazing 1-hour live set, easily some of Rodriguez Jr.’s best work yet, recreates the magic of the night in the mind’s eye without any difficulty. For those who were unable to attend - here is a chance to experience a sliver of what makes Cityfox LIVE so special. The epic melodies, vocals, and range of sounds - even touching upon some acid house notes - makes this set an aural feast.

Rodriguez Jr., hailing from Paris, France, has graced many Cityfox events past and it is always a pleasure to have him. One of the leading artists on the longstanding label Mobilee, Rodriguez Jr. has championed melodic house and techno and really refined its sound all the while remaining prolific in his productions and constantly performing spectacular live sets.
