On May 5, 2023 The head of the UN World Health Organization declared “with great hope”  that we are at an end to COVID-19 as a public health emergency, stressing that it does not mean the disease is no longer a global threat.

"In the memories of those who live through them, the grim days of plague do not not stand out like vivid flames, ravenous and inextinguishable, beaconing a troubled sky, but rather like the slow deliberate progress of some monstrous thing crushing out all within it’s path. No, the real plague had nothing in common with the grandiose imaginings that haunted my mind."

one upon a time we went to the House of Nanking restaurant and as we sat down a quarter-pounder cockroach strolled down the counter. nobody was bothered and we stayed and ate 'cuz the food was so damn good. still a favorite and inspiration for this exotic musical dish called House of Nanking Blues.

Mister Jazzbo Scarlet

It is the second act of an uncoiling Shakespearean tragedy with the return of all the bad actors; the corrupt courtiers, the feckless sons and whorish handmaids, the ambitious assassins, the smug black robed judges and boot licking lawyers, the drooling oligarchs, the sycophant politicians and slimy religious zealots, all eager to have their way with the women and the daughters who cannot appeal to justice because justice is vanquished. No checks, no balance. 

The final act portends banishment and deportation, violence and failed foreign alliances, right wing retribution, final solutions and the mad king’s revenge. It is all tear stained and blood drenched in irony as the authors and audience of this particular tragedy are the people themselves.
