Chozo Legacy is a progressive house journey through the sounds made famous by Nintendo’s hit game Super Metroid. Considered by some to be the greatest video game ever made, Super Metroid set a new standard for exploration and adventure games in its time.

Chozo Legacy’s producer, bLiNd, has been making electronic music for nearly two decades. His original Super Metroid remix, Jade Catacombs, appeared on the game music website OverClocked Remix in 2008. To this day, it is considered the prime example of video game trance music. Chozo Legacy‘s single, Kindred, features award-winning singer Jillian Aversa, who has appeared on major game franchises including Halo, God of War, Soul Calibur, and Civilization.
Musically, Chozo Legacy focuses on extended mixes of deep house, future, breaks, and trance. The steady rhythms and hypnotic grooves are reminiscent of classic house and techno, harkening back to the era the game was released. The album really shines when played in its entirety, progressing from track to track, as one might advance through the world of Super Metroid.

Chozo Legacy  succeeds at what so many concept albums set out to do, creating a convincing narrative. Each track is themed around a different environment from the game, reflecting its atmosphere and soundscape. The tenth track, Aran, has a finality to it much like an ending credits sequence. Just as a classic game can be replayed countless times, Chozo Legacy is endlessly loopable, the end transitioning seamlessly into the beginning. The album clocks in at an epic 64 minutes.

The Sound of Speed is the 45th album published by OverClocked ReMix and arranges music from both the Japanese and American versions of the Sonic CD soundtrack, released in 1993 for the Sega CD. It features 38 tracks arranged by 39 artists in a variety of styles and genres. This album was made as a tribute to the game's 20th anniversary.

It was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by SEGA or Sonic Team; all original compositions are copyright their respective owners.

DATA016: SPACE HARRIER

The complete music from the 1985 arcade classic, newly remastered and released on vinyl for the first time outside of Japan.

Space Harrier is perhaps most memorable for its lengthy and melodic opening theme, in which SEGA’s renowned in-house composer, Hiroshi “Hiro” Kawaguchi (OutRun, After Burner), armed with a Yamaha DX-7 and the most minimal of resources, sought to recreate the sound of a full band. In doing so, he defied the technological constraints of the time and inspired a generation of game composers, including Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage), who has since cited Space Harrier as a defining early influence. Looking beyond its iconic main theme however, Space Harrier also shows Hiro playing with a range of sounds and styles, from infectious loops and jaunty battle themes, to the doomy and surprisingly bass-heavy WIWI JUMBO.

Space Harrier is presented as a remastered 180g LP, pressed at 45RPM and featuring the complete 1985 arcade score, along with a bonus arranged version of the main theme by SEGA’s in-house live band (S.S.T. Band). Also included are new and exclusive liner notes written by Hiro himself and a lithographic print of the original artwork from the Japanese archives.

In addition, we are thrilled to reveal that the limited edition will feature a bespoke 3D lenticular cover, carefully re-modeled from the original illustration and befitting the iconic visual style of the game.
