Guitarist and composer nhoj (Jae Hyung Nho) was born in Seoul, South Korea. Even though, none of his family member played any musical instruments, he became amazed and fascinated with the sound of electric guitar playing blues. He grew up with the music of AC/DC, Deep Purple, Roy Buchanan, Bach and Beethoven. In his mid teens, he grabbed a guitar and became very interested in blues and hard rock music. When he moved to the U.S. in his mid teens and he studied classical music and jazz. In 2011, he applied and served Korean military band as a guitar and horn player for 21 months with great musicians, Seungho Kim, Hogyu Hwang, Hyungmo Ahn and others. After the discharge from the military band, he played guitar in the band Rainbow, with traditional world instrument players who (travels a lot and) played the didgeridoo, Jew’s harp, singing bowl, djembe and cajon. Before then, his mind of music was two-dimensional. But the experiences of the numerous jam sessions with those open-minded players/travellers gave him the insight of the sight of three dimensions. In his mid twenties, his music focuses on ambient music, humanism and serendipity of life. Through his musical experiences in Asia, America and Europe, his life, taste and the style of his music changed. While he was in Valencia, Spain for a year for his musical exploration, he got interested in yoga, meditation and music for it and took the advantage of it. His first project album “432 music” is the beginning of his ambient landscape music that he brushes the silhouette and the listeners define the music themselves. The music is not only about the perspective of the artist but to be “heard” when each listener hears and cogitates with it. “We may see the same object but we don’t take it as the same definition. The path we walked to see the object varies much and we see things different because we can dream. We are not sure how close “what we see” is to what it is. But our life should be inspired, not controlled.”
